Anybody have any experience with these? I know in Australia Noltec make adjustable camber ones but I'm more interested in the japanese ones that are retailing on the perfectrun and taka kaira websites. They both stock Cusco and JIC ones. Just want to know if anybody has these and how they are compared to the stock ones.

i got quoted $1100 for japanese adjustable ones called "Midori", the JIC and Cusco ones arent adjustable for ppl with uneven camber on each side. They're bloody expensive ones, anybody had any experience with these. They look abit like the ones Noltec make for r32 gtr

Hi randymoss, I have yet to see an R32 that doesn't need upper front control arm bushes, they are always stuffed. Every second one has stuffed radius rod bushes. I would strongly suggest a set of polurethane bushes, the more the better, have a look here........

Every time I fit a set to Skyline the guys always say how much it "improves the car", "stops the wandering", the "crashing noises go away", it "stops better", it "goes around corners now" etc etc

Well worth doing if you intend on enjoying your Skyline for some time.

In order to increase the caster they pull the front wheels forward in the guards. Not enough to rub though.

This changes the front steering toe angles and therefore you need to re-align it after fitting and adjusting the caster.

If the Tein caster rods you are looking have sperical joints at the front (not polyurethane or rubber) then you will notice a slight increase in NVH as there is no dampening. Sphericals also wear rapidly on Australian (rough) roads, and they then knock noticeably. They can also need regular greasing if fitted with external grease nipples.

Since they don't have as much "play" as a polyurethane bush they do provide more constant caster settings (less flex) but that comes at the price as above ie; as usual, you don't get something for nothing.

Are these the arms you refer to? My GTR has these Tein arms on the front suspension with rose joints on the front end. I've noticed loud "knocking" noises coming from the front of my car (which recently had all Bilsteins rebuilt), and can't work out the source. It's very annoying and to be frank, a little embarrassing, especially when taking a chick out. I've taken the car back to Quadrant twice, and will be taking back again as I'm still not happy, and Nissan don't know where the sound is originating from either.

Hi NRB, yep that's them. I would check the bolts to the lower control arm first, they have a tendency to come loose. Then it's time to check the sphericals at the front of the rods. Yours are non greasable, so if they are worn it is replacement time. I am surprised the guys at Quadrant haven't already tried them as the source of the knocking, they are pretty experienced. Maybe ask them to specifically check the play in the sphericals.

There are a number of other possible causes, but these are all known Skyline sources, they should be able to find it given time. I always try and find a particular bump close to the workshop that always causes the knocking and take them for a ride. You can quickly then know if it fixed.

Hi Sydneykid, thanks for the input. I'll be dropping in to see Quadrant (again!) and see if they can get a better idea. When it comes to showing them the problem I've noticed is that when I've got a passenger the frequency of its occurence is much reduced.

i've got a knocking sound as well coming from the left hand front of the car when cornering. Any suggestions on where this sound might be coming from, I've narrowed down to one of the bushes but don't know which one. Any ideas on which bush it imght be folks?

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻

I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
