Joe Ienco. Officially Endorsed Upper House Candidate To Fight For Adelaide Motorplex

Recommended Posts

So anyway, getting back OT, what is the deal with the Motorplex anyway?

I'm sure it's been discussed before, but I wouldnt mind a quick description of what it will be if anyone can be bothered.

I mean, will it be privately funded?

Open to public at any time? Or just events?

Any idea as to prices etc?

What other features will it have?

Sounds promising anyway, so I will definitely consider someone who is pushing for it. Especially someone anti-Rann.

It was the backing of Atkinson that tipped my loathing for Labour over the edge.

Open Letter

Independent Joe Ienco - Motorsports, Land Tax, Mental Health and ICAC

To all South Australians

As a Candidate in the upcoming Election on the 20th March 2010, I am standing for election as an Independent in the Legislative Council, where there is a real opportunity of electing a candidate that will stand up and fight for these issues on your behalf. I firmly believe that these are very important issues that effect the whole community and need to be addressed as a matter of urgency.

Motorsports

A potential Investment of $150 million dollars from private investors will be lost at the Port because the Rann Government does not want to allocate the land to the Adelaide Motorplex Consortium, which would bring back drag racing in Adelaide and generate many jobs and associated tourism for our State. I have been to many of these rallies to secure the facility over a number of years, the people want it, the Opposition is committed to it, it's simply a no brainer for this not to happen. This is a real opportunity to keep our youth off the streets and putting them on the track where they can learn real advanced safety driver training.

Land Tax

I am calling for a complete overhaul of the current Land Tax burden which is outrageous.

I am constantly reminded how the excessive taxes in SA are such a huge disincentive for future investment in this State. Land Tax is a major issue with SA being a whopping 126% above the National average which was the case recently until minor relief was offered by the State Government however excessive Land Tax still remains the one single factor inhibiting everyday South Australians from buying property in SA. Stamp Duty comes a close second which in many cases is the reason that first home buyers cannot get into the market and realise the great Australian dream of owning their own home. The Federal Government gives them a Home Savings Grant then they are hit with a $20,000 or thereabouts Stamp Duty Bill which obliterates the Grant. (NSW does not charge Stamp Duty for First Home Buyers). If as a State we could remove Land Tax, offer First Home Buyers no stamp duty and put in some decent infrastructure like a North South Freeway, we would not have to offer Companies Millions of Dollars in incentives to do business here as the word would get out that South Australia is a progressive State with reasonable taxes and a great place to live and invest!

Let us not forget that Stamp Duty was to be abolished by both parties when the GST came in nearly ten years ago. This promise need to be honoured.

Mental Health

This issue is one that is continually swept under the carpet and it astounds me that the Rann Government who stands for Social Justice would even consider using the slogan Social Justice when they are continually ignoring people with Mental Health Issues and to even to think of selling off the Glenside facility defies logic,- instead it must kept for the benefit of all South Australians, I would like to remind the Rann Government that there is 20% of the community effected by this issue alone and their associated families and friends and let us also not forget about other people with disabilities, they need proper care and assistance as well.

Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC)

I have been in favour of an Independent Commission against Corruption for many years and it amazes me that both the Attorney General and the Rann Government are so opposed in having an independent umpire investigate matters of State.

In the Justice System there is a saying that goes like this, Justice not only has to be done, but must be seen to have been done, and if you have nothing to hide there should be no problem in establishing an ICAC in South Australia. The argument that it costs $18 million, money can be found for all other issues but for self scrutiny no funds are available, this is ridiculous.

The Judiciary

A dangerous precedent has arisen when both the Attorney General and the Rann Government have transgressed throughout their term in office, they have interfered with the Judiciary in regards to three separations of power which are: The Legislator, The Judiciary, and the Office of Public Prosecution and it is imperative these three constitutional authorities must be kept separate at all times.

All these issues effect the whole community in our State, both socially and morally and must be addressed. We were fortunate at the last election to have Nick Xenophon fighting for common sense issues throughout his term and I am sure he will continue on fighting as a Senator representing our State in Federal Parliament, but we need to have representation in SA in the Upper House.

I Joe Ienco and Brenda Bates are putting ourselves forward for your consideration on March the 20th to continue the fight with common sense and therefore I am seeking your support and Vote 1 Independent Joe Ienco above the line in the Upper House Ballot Paper.

As you know everyone in the State can vote for the Upper House.

Independent Joe Ienco Motorsports, Land-Tax, ICAC VOTE 1

If you could forward it on to your family and friends it would be much appreciated

i think that the motorplex would just be like malalla but closer.....ie you have to hire out for private track days......open prac days.....dift/grip days....go on the motorplex site for that one

Not to mention off street drag meets, motor events along the lines of what other states have eg: powercruise, burnout comps, even motor boat racing is on the cards etc etc

^^ i call bs what more car related do you want a polly that is standing for the motorplex

SAU at times are a pack of hyaena's get a spelling error or grammatical error and you get crucified

mate just because this bloke is for the motorplex doesnt necessarily mean I wanna vote for him

the liberals too are for the motorplex, I need to be convinced that this dude is worthy to vote for

and if you want a dedicated thread to discuss politics, ask the mods for permission to do so, I dont think it has any more relevance than some of the other threads that have been deleted by mods for being OT, and given the passionate nature of peoples political views, would likely descend into a pollie bashing farce. Won't make one iota of difference to government policy.

1) i was't implying for you to change your voting preference, just reiterating that he is pro motorcomplex

2) this is a car forum and he is a car orientated polly :) what more car related does it get

3) um just wanted 3 dot points :)

do agree 1000% need to be convinced he needs to be worthy to vote for, he came in at the 11th hour and no one really knows him

people know more about family first than Joe Ienco

absolutely, i didnt think u were implying that i should change my vote, more iterating that i dont know much about him

im interested to know his views on the hospital and stadium debates, what they want to do with the aquatic centre, the tonsley park mitsubishi land, etc etc

the land tax thing is good, sled reckons its not gonna happen anytime soon but considering housing is getting harder for people to buy, any attention on that issue could be welcome.

i dont think a pollie who backs the motorplex is necessarily a car oriented pollie, moreso one who is listening to the public's requests - which is more a reason to vote for the bloke but less of a reason to keep a dedicated political thread (i fear it'll turn into arguments as to who is more car oriented than the other)

that said, family first can eat scat. I'd vote for Joe over them anyday as it stands

    • I am getting the same issue. Did you resolve it? I just got it after installing my new super coppermix and literally the same issue, new fork, new 18mm carrier, release bearing that came with the kit and replicated the exact same sound.
    • If you like - I have the STL files so I can email em. There's a couple of gotchas (i.e the holes are not threaded so you might need/will need) to utilize some M3 melt-in threads for some of the points. However if you want to be super accurate, and are willing to remove your calipers and your SHOCKS it's a really good tool. You also might need to scale the part that measures the tyre width a bit wider. It defaults to a 7.5in tyre and I mean who is running that. Luckily with the magic of CAD this is very easy to rescale.
    • jeebus. glad you weren't under it while performing the stunt. Also thanks for the link to the wheel measurer, exactly what I needed
    • In the older stuff there were very significant differences 2wd to 4wd, for example Stagea had strut front end for 2wd and double wishbone for 4wd so it was not minor to swap. From poking around the 2wd v37, it *looks* like it might be more possible; some of the parts specifically have "2wd" stamped on them which suggests the platforms are more similar. You'd still want to start with a 4wd half cut to swap stuff from though. I'd suggest if you don't have a tune on the ECU you don't really need one on the trans either. Throttle mapping is in the ECU side (and you can always use a Roar Pedal if you want the throttle to actually respond to your foot), and really if you are happy with the stock power you probably accept the stock trans behaviour too....its all made to be "sporty" not racey.
    • So, updates. I have not washed the car since it came back from Tassie. I've driven it around a bit but not got around to actually sorting it out. I DID raise it because I cracked the rear bar leaving a hotel which was very distressing. Interestingly, the car drives more compliant now that it's raised a fair bit (5mm front, 15mm rear). Also noticed that my FR height was 10mm lower than FL. So that's now sorted out, too. I also bought this and had it printed: https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1576422240/wheel-and-tire-fitment-tool-universal?ref=shop_home_feat_1&dd=1&logging_key=08f604d9fa4cc383550ba985e6ac85cd5cac7fbb%3A1576422240 Now, if I was smart I would have taken my brake calipers off to actually use this correctly but it was evident enough to me that in the region where the caliper was... there was nothing to hit suspension/guard/arm wise. So I'm going with "it'll be fine" after using the tool to hopefully very precisely measure the wheel clearance. Also while doing this, I had the very VERY bad idea of jacking one of the wheels/suspension arms up while the rest of the car was on jack stands. I did this to see how the arm would travel. This all was well and good until the car slid off the stands and went through a fence. So don't do that. Incredibly nobody was hurt and there was only minor damage to the rear bumper as the car didn't have far to slide, and had 3-4 wheels on it. The only damage turned out to be the fence itself which was easy to fix, and a little bit of damage to the fibreglass rear bumper trim. I had already planned to try a touch up paint kit to fix the time I drove into my garage door to see if it'd help in the interim before I get it fixed properly. I used the Dr Colorchip kit after looking online and seeing everyone talking about it. Yes it's made for chips and not huge broken missing pieces and I'll be 500% recommending it for stone chips after using it for stupid things like me. This took about ... 10 minutes and looking at the half assed photo the 30 second job I did on the bumper corner was almost perfect just by using the tiny little brush and painting it in. The sealact stuff to remove over-painting is really useful, so if/when I do it again I'll likely slather the touch up paint well over it and then clean it up with the cleaning solution. The wheels should arrive in a couple of weeks. I am still kinda confident after doing a stupid amount of measuring (and borrowing a set of 18x10.5+15) that they will not fit because I overlooked something, somehow and flew too close to the sun. ALSO R34 GTR guard liners do not fit on a GTT. I bought the undertray brake duct guides and had the wonderful problem of them not fitting my intake, my oil cooler and the liners themselves were even worse. Attempting to fit them won't work in general - You would have to cut them up as another poster mentioned as the bodywork is different on the GTT. At least I can try to resell them. So instead of cutting those up, I cut up my old already-cut-up GTT liners and extended them by using some PP plastic and drilling some 8mm holes for some nissan clips for the 'extra' bit. Because I was happy to cut them I was able to mount them pretty damn forward so I now have some semblance of guard liners, and the brake vents seal the bumper from the bottom. It sort-of-looks like this, to give some idea - If you look at the GTR and then the GTT this is when I realised that I needed to seriously measure as the inside of the rim area is entirely, entirely, entirely different and could not take any internet measurements for granted.
