Hicas Problem

Hi guys,

bit late really cbf looking for this topic but i have a problem,

Ive noticed in my gts-4 hard acceleration to 80kmph and above my steering wheel changes angle,( ur thinking is this guy drunk? ) no... my steering wheel moves to the left but the car goes straight .... ?

i was on the freeway heading to plenty road... when BAM more than 100% it was HICAS f**king throwing my ass end into a wiggle and BAM my steering wheel was straight again... ?

ive had this similar problem in a GTS-T b4.. but when that happend the HICAS light turned on as if it was disengaged...

This time i get the wobble that nearly made me smash into another car lol but no disengage of HICAS..?

All i want to know is why the f... does this HICAS system do that? whats the deal with my steering wheel going to the left on acceleration then going straight when hicas wobbles?

am i in need of a lock bar?

That's exactly what my HICAS used to do - steering wheel rolled over. Then when you hit 110kph, that's when HICAS turns off - steering wheel snaps straight, and it's a scary experience. In this situation, though - my HICAS light wasn't on.

Either way, I ended up talking to Nissan about it and they used their CONSULT to check it out. Turned out the HICAS steering sensor was off compared to where the wheel was. Basically when the steering wheel was straight, HICAS thought it was at an angle.

Basically what I had to do was get the HICAS system reset, and have the steering rack straightened up compared to what the steering angle sensor thought. It's been perfect since. I'm sure Nissan can advise and probably fix it for you. (Bit difficult to get it straight without the steering angle sensor output).
