Oh yeah, I have. It wasn't anything too serious fortunately. I was driving with a broken lower control arm, which put pressure on the tie-rod, hence it snapped, and one of the wheels went stiff. So the car oversteered sideways, and it hit the curb. Could have been worse, really, fortunately I just had to replace the front bumper, and some spare parts.

Why this topic anyway?

I have not had an accident in my Skyline(at this stage, hope never)

Know of Silver GTR that did a while back(real mess, written off)

Mark Tilbrook has built a number of Skylines up from almost shells,

is currently building a R33 GTSt drift car from a shell, has lots of

spare parts for them,& is very skilled in repairing/modifying skylines. The only thing he wont do in house is paint, but he has a really good guy to do that(Darren-Impressive Paint & Panel).

Mark also has contacts with lots of std parts that have been pulled of cars when modified(like mine)

I hope no-one ever has a prang. But if you do - Tilbrook Auto & Dyno is the place to go.It will be a lot faster when it leaves!!

:D

well i pranged mine .. it was raining and wet .. i'm not experienced with turbo cars so i hit the accelerator a bit to hard while overtaking and totally understeered it ... hit a pole ... probably about 8k worth of damage the crash repair guy said ... luckily i had signed up with insurance the same day ... but still my premium is going to go through the roof now :D thinkin of selling it when i get it back :)

just hit the pole on the front left corner of the car .. and just broke the headlight, and intercooler pipe as well as surrounding area, and also back wheel on left, not sure it i damaged the axel(dont' know if its called that) or not ... cause i hit the curb pretty hard on the back left wheel ... i only just got insured for 2300 a year ... what do u think will happen to my premium now??

  • 3 weeks later...

lol... Drift Spec... You'd Better be careful... I've seen how you drive.. :)

When I first set the boost to 1 bar with the ebc I came on to boost in third gear with around half throttle and it snapped sideways quite badly. This was in front of Hungry Jacks On South road Darlington so the road is nice and wide. I ended up using 2 1/2 lanes to get it back.

Just a rule ppls Never pull your foot off the throttle try and keep it neutral.

The rear wheels will act a little like a handbrake otherwise and send 180degree's.

Most of you probably already know that.. ;)

what do u mean by "Just a rule ppls Never pull your foot off the throttle try and keep it neutral. " mine is an automatic ... so what happened was that it was raining and was really wet .. i pressed the accelerator to hard and it shifted back a gear and turbo kicked in ... understeer .. damn pole was in the way ... someone call 911 ... :)

What joel meant i think and what I always do is never completely take your foot off the throttle when you are in a slide, just keep it planted and pull through ( thats what I do the skyline just streightens evetually) or slowly back off.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
