Yes, I love how the road toll has come right down now they have so many speed cameras/defect stations/double demerit points/defect blitz on imports. The government is doing a fantastic job with the whole situation - introduce more speed cameras - that will fix the problem. /sarcasm

How about they instigate a proper road safety campaign where they force every single driver to do a defensive driving course so they actually learn to drive. I spend all day on the road, and by far the biggest offenders of pulling out in front of people/following too closely/not indicating/not giving way or stopping at signs, is older people - suprisingly not 'young hoons in their import/high performance cars'.

Yes speed can be a factor, but the root of the problem is way deeper than introducing more cameras IMHO. Of course the government already knows this - they just want more revenue. Instead of 'speed cameras save lives' signs after cameras, they need to put 'speed cameras raise government revenue' lol. And fyi I haven't been done for speeding since I have owned my 200SX, in fact my last fine was in Darwin nearly 4 years ago. :(

/end rant

hey dean .. why dont' u go test it for all of us :) .. if it sets off at 75 ... then ... bad luck to the guy getting caught ... thats 25% over ... its not as bad as i thought ... also .. i was wondering ... cause i been watchin tv and seen them cop commercials of the camera detecting you speeding from in front and then u see it makin funny noises like in star wars and it instantly zooming into your number plate ... which is bollocks imho ... sif they can do that ... anyways they can't flash u from in front can they?? what if you're doing 80?? the cop can't do anything unless the roads are pretty empty and he can chuck a U turn?? am i right?

Well this must mean the govt is running out of money. Whenever the budget looks a bit worse than usual, fines go up or more speed cameras go on the road - which wouldnt be tooo bad if only 1 cent in ever $10 went into building decent roads

Thanks for the warning about the speed cameras.

The redlight cameras dont stop people running red lights, but I am sure these ones will work really well, and we will have no more people killed on the roads cos now everyone will drive better:p

    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
    • Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
