Does only the left HL turn with the steering wheel?

That's all my car does. There is a picture in a user manual that seems to indicate this light is the only one that moves and goes 30 degrees.

Makes sense too, as you already sit on the RHD of the car.

Does anyone have BOTH lights moving around corners?

I'm sure I've noticed the driver's side light move, but only when moving at speed

keep an eye out next time you're driving at night

They both move, tested couple of hours ago. There is something strange about right one though. It seems that it does not move until you trun wheel to certain point where left one does it instantly. i though that it was broken at first

Hmmm... my 'AFS' warning light flashes too.

Methinks they buggered it up during compliance. Once I get the Xenons to put back in I'll get someone to check it out. Hopefully it'll be a matter of putting them in and they'll just work.

BTW the 'Auto' lights are awesome!

Have figured it out.

My workshop told me the right one does not swivel right as to not interfere with oncoming traffic when turning right.

Makes sense and consistent with the Japanese pic in my manual.

My error is most probably just because the Xenon bulbs are missing.

Anyone put Xenons back in yet? I have bulbs but reluctant to open it up myself.. Anyone knows specialist in Sydney who does this and at what cost?

I haven't... yet...

There is one V36 compliance shop in Syd and in Brissy. I don't know the Syd one but if you find out you can try them.

Otherwise I would have thought any auto elec should be able to do it. My brother (a shop fitter, not a mechanic) did my R34. I was quoted $100 or 150 for this once from memory... seemed a little high for what most guys can do themselves (except for me, being a very unhandy man).

I was told easiest way to do is to put the car up on a hoist and remove the wheel to gain access through behind the front 1/4 fender.

Taking off the front bumper is NOT recommended - it can stuff up the airbag sensors (even with the car off).

I refitted my HID's myself ... took around 2 hours to work it all out..

easiest way is jack it up, take the wheel off, take the inner splash guard off, connect the HID's to the existing ballasts, done!

If your importer was nice he will make it easy to revert it back!

Aussie standard H1's are CRAP honestly there is no comparison i could barely drive at night with the shit that the HID's were replaced with!

oh, and if your thinking of changing the fog lights... good luck! they are an absolute BITCH to get to! most pain in the pass job ever!!!

Thanks for the info.

I was still thinking of taking it somewhere, as I want to fit a band expander and wire in a USB charger for my Tom tom while I'm at it. Maybe even do an iPhone charger (apparently even with the iPod cable the 3GS won't charge) and talk to them about wiring in a little set top box (for TV).

Is it the one for FM Radio?

Yes. Speaking of which, has anybody done this to a V36? Would be good to know what adaptor is required. Apparantly the V35 is a little different. Assuming you can buy these from Jaycar, have also seen some made in NZ ones too.

there is an ipod cable for v36?

( i know americans got one, but jap spec models dont have a cable available i thought?)

My port looks the same as the US one but to be honest I don't know.

My port looks like that, but I don't have the cable. Nor the 'BOSE for Skyline' badge, even thought I have the BOSE stereo (SP model).

Mines all Infiniti badging anyway.

BTW am in touch with a company in NZ that makes the band expanders - only $30 NZ delivered for very high quality ones.

Still need to work this out: 'Also I would need to know what type of antenna plug is in the back of the radio unit eg. A single plug or a twin pin plug as these model vehicles varied."

Anyone know?

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
