that should have most of the information you'll need, with brands it best not to go for the cheap fix as they are almost always crap, pay a good price for a good product

i think anything without a cannon sounds good, lol.

hey guys new to this site, just got myself a N/A 33 and the exhaust is already shitting me, its stock with a cannon, im looking for a increase of performance just wondering wat the best way to go and the best brands and prices if ya can helpme out

Get tuned length extractors, keep your stock cat or get a high flow cat if you can afford the $$$, 2 1/4 piping with whatever nice muffler (normal / high flow) tickles your fancy. That should set you up with a street legal nice system.

I measured my exhaust pipe when i had my cannon replaced and its only 2 1/4inch!! man was i annoyed now i know why my top end isn't that great, bottom end is great tho...

i would go with 2.5inch if i was you, but don't get a huge cannon on the end and if you can afford to, get a straight through resonator put on

thanks for the help. any ideas on the dollars i should be paying for that type of system, just dont wanna get ripped.

thanks bud, how are the coby parts?

ive got coby extractors on mine 2, the seem good so far, higher top end power and more response,

but the factory welds were 2 thick and the shop had to grind 2 of them down a bit to get washers on the bolts , but someone on here said coby has now addressed that issue? and someone also complained that they had the exhaust header flange warp, but it must not have been bolted up right cos its pretty thick, like 6mm

how much did they set ya back man and where abouts did u find em?

The best sounding exhuast system for a NA skyline would be

DKNE extractors - $500 with HPC coating is what i got mine for....

Custom front pipe and 100cell cat 2.5" - $500 again

Kakimoto Racing Kakimoto R (r33 NA 75mm muffler) - $1000

This is a really quiet setup its about 77dB but you can get it really loud if you ever wanted to buy just removing the intake silencer box in your engine bay. Pretty hefty price for a good exhaust system =\

I got a set of dkne extractors to be put in, just waiting on a varex muffler or cannon (still cant make up my mind to witch one to get, any care to help? PM me) ... quoted 500bucks to get it all installed with a high flow cat and 2.5" mandrel bent piping... Ive been told its a fair price and a good setup...

Thats exactly what i have, its a great setup imo. The varex + highflowcat eliminated 90% of the horrible raspy noise i had with just some random cannon on 2.5inch pipe with dkne extractors. Also have a resonator id recommend one :)

    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
