Hi all, i own a V35 250GT, and i went to a motorsport fun day in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. I live in Botswana and i'm a Zim citizen. Anyway they were having some drags so i thought i'd enter my vehicle. The other enthusiast's were all very interested in my car as they had never seen a V35 Skyline before and they weren't sure what Nissan it was but the minute i said it was a Skyline there eyes lit up and i had to show them the engine etc. The other cars there were my uncles 13B Rotary's , 2 Nissan Pulsar's one a 300GTI and the other a 2LT both 4wd MA, a bug eye subaru, 2 chev lumina's SS, lotus 7 , Nissan champ and the list can go on. I rolled up to the line and my uncle was next to me in his Rotary and when the flag dropped the race was on,foot flat but nothing exciting was happening it was as if i was on a Sunday drive down to the shop's wanting to buy some bread and milk for my work sambo's. I wasn't to impressed, on the open road put your foot down and she drops to second and she changes at 6500 with a snap into third and the speedo is climbing to about 150km/h and if you don't tap off the wife is starting to give you the eye ball otherwise she, the car, would want to carry on till the limiter kick's in at about 185km/hr after changing into fourth at about 165km/hr. So that impresses me but on the strip well i might as well park it in the pit's and let her see what she's missing out on. I know she's Auto but even in Triptronic with the POWER button light on she only get's to about 130km/hr at the 1/4 mile finish line and with Auto and NORMAL selected i only get to around 120km/hr at the 1/4 mile finish line. So is this norm or what, have i got to high a wieght oil in the engine, which i have no clue what's in there as i recently bought it from a local importer or do i have to much oil in the autobox hence maybe one of the two is causing resistance. I did change the Air filter so i don't think that's the cause but i'm open to suggestion's.

Regard's RWG.

You said 250gt?

The 2.5litre will never rip the strip, at least not without turbo hanging off the side like the stagea owners get.

Heck even the 350gt is hard to get into the 13s with alot of boltons.

Hi all thanks for the replies, at least now i know there isn't a fault or something wrong with my car, it just means it's not a GODZILLA but still a nice comfortable car to drive. You mentioned the speed limiter, i believe there is one wire to cut then it gets cancelled any knowledge know in this deveous task?

Hi thats great to know, do you have a diagram that i can folllow so that i know that i,m cutting the correct wire. This won,t affect the computer in any bad way will it? Have you done this to your 350GT?

I was kidding about the purple wire comment. I think the only way to remove the speed limiter is via an aftermarket ECU...someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    • They are in fact just nozzles. They are there only to produce a spray pattern and limit flow. The injector itself is what I use to control flow to the 7x nozzles. My old system had no injector and only PWM the pump. This lead to a lot of inconsistencies, and poor atomization at low pressure when the pump was ramping up.
    • With the system, once you drive it for a bit, and before you turn the car off, does the car fix its date and time? When you say the date is wrong, what date does the vehicle think it is, and does it always show the same date? My thoughts from a process driven view is; The system may be defaulting to a standard start date/time. The main reason you'd typically see this occuring, is the system is losing its constant/backup power supply.   If its always defaulting to the same date/time at start up, and especially if it fixes itself while driving, I'd say either the non volatile memory has an issue, or the power supply to the volatile memory that stores this information.   The other thing I'd check is if there is anywhere in the system you can adjust the date and time from. If the date/time is still moving forward since it wished you happy new year, then it is 100% possible the system has just had a bit of data corruption occur, and you likely need to find a way to reset the date/time in the vehicle.

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!
