We stayed at the motorsport hotel, cheap enough and decent meals downstairs. Used a car from rent-racecar.de, very friendly people highly recommended - but when they let you pick a car go for the one with the newest tyres!

We scheduled our visit on the weekend of a vln race, so I was able to watch the racing one day and drive the track on the next. Supposedly not allowed camera's but I saw a few guys with pov type set-ups and wished I had taken mine - just be discreet. It's a good idea to get there the minute the track opens for some clear laps, it packs out!

cheers mate. what car did you go with, and what sort of fee's did u pay for track time and car rental?

rsrnurburg.com was where I went from a referral from another forum member. Speak wth Dale who is from the UK and 'gets it'. I got very lucky and went there on a private trackday organsed by Speed Industries (Swiss based) so there were no bikes or other crap to ruin your day. It wasn't cheap, but it was great fun. Don't hire anything you can't pay for if you bin it. Drive carefully. Try to get past the nerves and enjoy yourself. In the wet and for the first time I'd highly recommend something front drive, low power and leave the traction / stability control on.

If I did it again I'd try an organise it around a private track day and avoid the plebs.

I went late last year with some mates and hired a suzuki swift from rent-racecar.de. The car was amazingly fun to drive and handled everything we threw at it (upto 200kmph on the straights and was able to hound a wrx and focus rs through the corners though the'd get a lead on the straights). I think it worked out about $600 eur for my 8 laps incl fuel.

The thing to watch is insurance - your excess on the car is $5000, and you're not covered for track damage or track closure which is charged by the minute I think. A good stack can set you back thousands, and there were plenty of crashes (and one death from a motorcyclist) on the day.

Seriously amazing track to drive, I'd do it again for twice the price....

    • Glad to hear. If possible, get your tuner to check air's to make sure everything is still where it should be.
    • The problem with FB/Insta/Reddit etc comments relating to cars is simple. You get to ask a question once, and get one round of replies. For things that can actually be answered in a few lines of text, once, it's fine. After 6 hours, your original question is lost to the void. There are no follow ups, additional questions, anything. No project car is ever such a simple list of questions to ask. You need discussion.
    • Welcome.  Here's what I have noticed about forum vs FB..... FB; seems to be wallet racing, and the same few questions asked over and over. There *may* be some groups that are closer knit, but most have changed for the worse. SAU; unfortunately, no longer in its glory days. But....genuine people with similar interests. Not all about how much you spent and saying you dont have enough power. Sooooooo much knowledge available. Have personally seen people post up about literally topics I made myself, asking on FB like no one has done it before. Most has been done, and most of that is here.   If you ever feel like just general chatting theres the wasteland.  Other interests are also generally covered in other areas of the forum. Hope you enjoy hanging around. We would love to have you.   P.s. nice 32 😀
    • Nah, natural progression is euro. Because, we're all gluttons for punishment. And, what's more punishing than euro?
