Hey guys, Ive been thinking about getting a pod filter but only thing that stopped me from getting one was cutting hole through the body for cai.

I was wondering if anyone tried leaving the stock air vent and cut the box out. if you know what i mean.

and cover the pod with home made heatshield?

I've attached a pic here. So cut where the red dot is, and remove the panel filter box and pod goes there. and make a heat shield on top.

Is this possible? will there be enough space for pod to fit in there?

Thanks guys.

thats exactly what i did, after i installed a pod filter, i cut the factory snorkle off in a half circle shape so that it rams air right down on top of the pod then built a heat shield for it - still myt make one comming up from underneath too tho - lots of room for it all to work out, comes out looking pretty good too

its all really easy, once you get the airbox unbolted you just need a muffler shop to bend up a piece of pipe for the intake, they should know what to do, and then once you get your pod all in place you just have to chop off the snorkle from the air box with a big wood saw, then use a smaller wood saw (like a couping saw) to shape a curve into the cut so it lines up nice and flush with the pod, you'll have to cut it closer and closer by test fitting it over and over till you have cut away just enough for it all to sit right

but lots of people on here reckon a hi flow panel filter is better and alot less work, your choice

try doing a search - lots of people on here have already asked and answered heaps of questions on pod filters and how to install them and all the pros and cons

too late for panel filter now, ive already bought apexi power intake :D

for now i only took the top part of the airbox out, vac line just hanging there.

i guess ill have to go around search for some piping then.. so it reaches under the vent.

thanks mann

oh look what i found

looks like i dont need whole new piping, just L shaped pipe to extend it. how exciting lol

    • Mine is all -12, I’m running a dry sump in a billet block though
    • HG's high flow is not "bolt on". The core is shorter, moves the comp cover rearwards in the engine bay. means you have to deal with the inlet plumbing a little bit. This is probably something to consider with every "bolt on" turbo anyway.
    • HyperGear. Just get a high flow of the stocker. Good, reliable, and should bolt on. Yes it will want things like a retune once done, so you need to factor this in to your spend too.
    • Hi. Iam looking for some "cheaper" bolt on turbo on RB25DET NEO. I do not want "big" power just better reliability than the stock turbo which is "fot now" good but is old and i do not think it has "easy" life. One the Skyline here running some "temu" china Turbo but i dont trust those... Thanks!
