I've been to the subscriptions page and there is no way for me to donate.

Can someone please give me a rundown on how to donate?

BTW, I've been here but there is no option for me to select.... I click the "Continue to select a payment option" and I get an error message saying I haven't selected a subscription package. There's no Subscription package for me to choose!

You cannot donate at this time.

It will be back... I've been saying it for a while i know...

Not a lot i can do at the moment, waiting for a key upgrade and there have been a few hurdles. :D

Sheesh.

Don't suppose we can have editing of posts enabled during this time?

The whole "PM a Mod to make changes to a post" thing is a little far out. Maybe only enable it for Club Members?*

*I understand Club members aren't financial members of the Forums, however my understanding is the edit ability is not given to everyone not because people are not financial but to stop potential exploitation of members in the Classifieds. If someone is willing to spend the $70 or so to become a financial Club member, then surely that is insurance enough that they are not out to rip people off in the classifieds?

Post editing will not be enabled.

Since we have imposed this restriction bad/dodgy traders have virtually become non existent on the forums.

For this small inconvenience, a vast majority of users are now much better protected.

Admin see's this as a good win for us as dealing with these complaints is time consuming and also quite unpleasant for the unsuspecting buyer.

We have no obligation to protect the buyer, however we feel it's our duty to do whatever we can within reason.

Simply use the "REPORT POST" button and things can be altered.

People do it on a daily basis, and takes less than 1min.

And FYI - Club members have actually ripped people off in the past, so no, paying for a club membership unfortunately does not stop this.

Did those club members do so by using a devious system of editing posts to reflect better conditions for them, or flat out rip people off like anyone able to post on these forums could?

And I bet people who have donated have also ripped people off in the past, so your argument is defunct.

But it's your forum, so, whatever.

Well the person that did couldn't do so by editing posts, given that feature is disabled, and has been for over a year

We've not had one person who's donated, do a bad trade actually.

We'll, it's actually Christian's forum, however Nick & Myself run the traders & deal with complaints... Of which I am thankful of late (last 6 months), there has been only two.

Yes it might be annoying, however there is a feature to get it edited (report post), and usually that is done within a day or two so i see little drama.

I get maybe 2 reports on average a day for it, seems the "editing" really isn't "that" required...

And quite a few of the edits have actually been to delete For Sale threads/edit information and so on which comes as no surprise - and people are told this will not be occuring.

I'd say you don't get many cause no one can be buggered going thru the rigmarole of getting something done.

I want a post in the Events section edited, but to be honest, I CBFed reporting the post 3 times a day. And waiting for a day or two to have the edit done is pointless as it's about an event that is happening tomorrow.

And you're saying that 2 complaints have warranted stopping people from editing posts? Wow. I'd hate to see what happens when three complaints are made.

This is the only forum I have ever been on that is so out of control that the edit function needs to be disabled. Strange, huh?

Look I'm not going to get into some long winded argument about this, so this will be my last post on the matter and nothing you say will change it anyway.

I'd happily edit it once a day, i do for some people for other threads.

So if you CBF'd spending 15 seconds (which is how long it would take to edit anyway), then that is your own problem.

Please don't make your problems, my problems.

The decision was made quite a while ago, and we stand by it.

We were getting 6+ complaints a month about dodgy traders, we sought to make changes to alleviate this. We made the changes, and dodgy traders have signifigantly dropped.

You are new to the forum so i can appreciate the fact you probably have not seen how it used to be, and now idea how much work/time it was for Nick & Myself to deal with the weekly complaints and investigations that we had to go through as a result.

I mean we don't even have to help people that get ripped off, most forums don't give a shit and tell you to piss off.

However we do care and i hate seeing people get ripped off. We protect people as much as we possibly can - which is essentially protecting them from themselves most of the time.

I'd also be surprised if half the forums you have used in the past are even 1/2 the size of us in terms of For Sale area traffic.

We have well over 500,000 indv topic views/month in JUST the Selling area's. And this does not include the business trader area's/GB's areas either.

Just a a few final things:

A) You stated that donations are disabled and it's being worked on. Is it likely to be a few weeks, months or years before it's rectified?

B) Don't assume to know what forums I have and haven't chatted on. I'm on smaller and bigger ones than this and ones with more and less active classified sections.

C) How much time do you spend editing posts each day? I bet if you add that up it's probably not that different to the time required to sort out dodgy dealers.

D) If the classified section is so active, surely 6 complaints a month isn't that unexpected or unrealistic.

E) Caveat emptor. If you are silly enough to be ripped off on a forum, then that's your problem. Why should everyone else have to put up with stupid conditions? Reeks of Nanny Statist if you ask me. Protecting those who need no protecting for a small minority who are too stupid to look after themselves.

Anyway, I don't make the rules, I just abide my/break them.

Perhaps making the donation system work again should be a priority?

A. Unable to supply a timeframe, much as i would like to do so. Was meant to be start of the year, however a lot of other things have not happend holding it back.

There are other things that must occur first, before dontations will work simplistically again. The old way was too manual.

B. Oh well, they run things how they want, we run how we want.

C. 5mins at the most, hardly anyone uses the option.

D. To us, it is.

E. Refer my earlier post.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
