Over the past week the clutch has started to slip in my 32 gtr, or so I thought. Tonight on the way home it was still slipping as soon as I hit full boost in any gear above second, but what I noticed was that as soon as it started to slip the torque split gauge moved up at the same time.

Is this normal when a clutch on a gtr slips or could it be something to do with the 4wd system?

I really cant afford to spend on a new clutch only to find that it is'nt that.

Any help much appreciated.

its pretty easy to tell when a clutch is rooted and slipping.. but i guess if you've never driven a car with a slipping clutch then you wont know.

if you cant tell yourself, take it to a mechainc. any mechanic with half a brain can tell u if its slipping or not.

good luck mate.

Yeah I didn't mean I don't know what a slipping clutch feels like. I've driven cars with slipping clutches before and I've replaced a couple too. It definately feels like a slipping clutch. I just thought it was a bit weird that the front torque gauge was showing that power was being sent to the fronts as the clutch slipped as if traction was being lost on the rears.

i have a racepace spec transfers case, not sure if it makes any difference but the torque gauge shows some torque is going to the front either when in between gears of when your giving it a flogging so i think that part of it is normal..

yeh think about it, the transfer case has no idea whether clutch is slipping or not as long as its fed enough power to the back it'll start winding up the front. best get 2nd opinion if you have any doubts. g/l

Yeah thats usually the case but my last clutch was a bit of a surpise when it started slipping and even then when it was fairly majorly slipping (eg after a clutch dump at about 5000rpm) I couldnt smell it at all

Depends on the clutch but, that was an exedy cushion button. My stock clutch before that smelt horrible when it was slipping

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
