Sorry guys, not having a go but "k's to a tank" is not a reliable measure of fuel economy.

This is probably obvious but here's how to calculate your fuel economy:

1. Fill up the fuel tank completely and record odometer reading

2. Drive normally until the tank is close to empty

3. Fill up the tank again again completely and record odometer reading & litres filled

4. Subtract previous odometer reading from current = distance travelled

5. Divide litres filled by [distance travelled / 100] = your fuel economy in l/100km

6. Repeat from step 2

Example: Say your previous refill was at 100,000 km and the current odometer reading is 100,400 km. You just put in 50 litres of petrol. Your fuel economy is:

Tips:

- Ask for tax invoice when paying as it includes litres filled

- I normally scribble my odo reading on the tax invoice

- Always fill the tank up completely! Otherwise this won't work

- If you're really keen you can record individual economy readings and calculate an average over time...

Hope this helps

More on topic, my current readings for the R34 GTT are in the 13-14.5 l/100km range for mixed driving. Bog stock.

As per above ,(i've always worked it out this way), my m35 gets 12-12.5 litres around town(sunshine Coast)and 10-10.5 on highway cruising.(sitting on 100-120 ks)

My car has the gcg gt3037 upgrade, with 3" s/steel dump,200cfm hi flow cat and fujitsubo 3" exhaust.I should add i dont baby it, but dont cane it either. It does seem to be slightly better left in the sports tiptronic mode.

It will be, the torque converter is locked all the time. Just be aware the gearbox can overheat if you drive hard in tiptronic mode.

Perhaps that explains why it locked itself out of sports mode while trying to chase the pack of other stags up mt tamborine on the last qld cruise 3 weeks ago.

I'm interested to know why mine has never overheated or reacted funny. I spent most of my time in manual shift mode and most of the time it's driven hard (close to redline), never had an issue with the box.

Makes me wonder if something has been done or added to fix this issue.

today, i filled up full and did a 300km trip, on about 295km i filled up the rest of my tank and i managed to fill in 29.8l of fuel. so having a 60l fuel tank, i got about 10l/100km, not bad for manaul turbo neo s2. i did between 120-140 on most stretches and about 190ish twice on a long dead stretch of road in the middle of nowhere. pretty proud of my car atm.

just got back from a trip to karratha 200km one way use about half a tank to get there

On the way back only used about 1/3 of a tank

sat on 130 kph all the way very odd i think

talking about autos what does everyones rpm read at 110kph and 130kph

mine read 3000rpm at 130kph

forgot to mention that i can only buy 95 octane fuel where i live

dunno about the auto stuff but i run on 95 as well (138/litre for 95 in tas or 154ish for 98) and it runs fine

i think the ecu's are smart enough to pull a little bit of timing, feels a bit zippier on 98

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
