Now that makes one wonder if a pillar-mounted GPS is any less kosher than a pillar-mounted gauge.

But then, our police abide by the strict letter of the law don't they?

From what i understand as long as it is bellow the height of the steering wheel it is ok. I understand this may be ADR's not state specific.

I think it is due to head injury if you are in a crash and side vision while driving.

Any additional internal or external gauges must:

• not interfere with the field of view of the driver

• not produce glare to the driver

• not have the possibility of an oil pressure line, or similar, breaking with pressurised fluids spraying onto the windscreen

• be fitted in such a way to reduce the risk of injury to the vehicle occupants or pedestrians
