Bought a new gauge cluster and put white faces and LEDs in there with the intention of doing a quick changeover.

When I put it in I find that none of the gauges read correctly, the fuel doesnt move, speedo says 25km on idle/shutoff, rpm reads low and the temp reads ridiculously high. Do I need to get it calibrated or something?

Also. is there a way to wind the digital odometer forward to the correct km?

thanks

Had a similar problem when my mechanic put my guages back in the first time: I actually had a full tank of fuel, but some idiot assumed that I had 1/2 tank (how hard is it to call and ask?!), so held the needle at the halfway mark when the guages were put back in. Subsequently, the fuel guage always read half a tank too low, even after reinstalling guages when the tank was half full, and holding the guage at the full mark.

Unfortunately, nothing we tried fixed the issue: I ended up having to purchase a new Dolphin cluster... funnily enough, the new one never had the same issue: worked perfectly from day one. Not sure if that helps, but I had great difficulty trying to find someone to recalibrate the original cluster... :D

Hi Craig, Are you fitting S2 cluster into S1 or aftermarket cluster? New in box or pre-loved? I would love to come round & have a looksee but stuck in the Pilbara for a few more weeks yet.Dunno when I'll be back in town as I do not have a flight booking for next escape as yet.

Good luck anyway, GW

Ah its a preloved S1 cluster (sold as working) into an S1, it all plugs in fine.

Im quite sure I know your car 260, do you have a mate with a GTiR on Lionel st?

I'm in and out of town working too, but get hold of me when you're in and we'll have a show and tell

    • Welcome. Dont let anyone dissuade you from your dreams. If you want a gtr, keep sabing and you will eventually get one. I feel like if I had have bought stocks, those companies would have gone bust and I would have lost my money.  There's a gamble in everything we buy. I've had good times and bad. But... I've also met my absolute best friend through this network and can't imagine life without them(more like a brother). Keep in mind, some specific mods will change as technology gets better. If you feel like general chat, there's always the wasteland.....
    • Those are some very cutesy barriers! Is that common?
    • Saw this abandoned Honda Fit in a carpark that was getting repaved... they just 'cut around it' and continued with the job! There's a number of reasons why the car could have been abandoned, but as for the construction company, legally they don't have permission to move the car from the owner (who has moved on and can't be contacted) so all they can do it just leave it there with enough space around it so it won't get damaged.
    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
