Hi, first i would like to know what limp mode is for the re4r01a on rb25det r33 gtst (2nd or 3rd gear) because:

Drama first started from me playing around with my stereo system without disconnecting the battery at some stage. Straight after finishing i went for a drive and it the problem was was instantly there.

No 1st 3rd 4th and stalling really badly (but can manually shift 1st 2nd but then when put into drive it won't select any gear and when you let your foot off the pedal it drops to 1000rpm and when you accelerate again it feels like your almost pressing nothing until you approach the rpm that you were at when you first took your foot off the pedal). - Best way to describe it and i know its f*&ked lol...

Did the auto diagnostics and found out tps and shift solenoid b gone. Am i in limp mode (cause i thought 3rd was limp mode or is it 2nd in the 33gtst). I have been over all the fuses (dash and engine bay and boot), looked at all the wiring that i touched, reset ecu, replaced tps, replaced shift solenoid assembly etc...still no changes at all. I dont have any engine management light on (atm), but i do have the power button flashing which indicates something is wrong....

My next step is to get another A/T ecu (or shift control unit - drivers side kick panel), however im wondering if there is anything else i might be missing...before i have to actually take it to a tranny mech. (and i have tried to read as many posts on this matter as i can)..

cheers

when you mean playing around with the stereo were you playing with wiring? Did you have covers and that off around the T bar? And resetteing the ecu, did you disconnect the battery or press reset on the ecu?

No i disconnected the battery and left the car for 24hours (didnt even touch the ecu)...And sorry i wasn't specific, i was checking (and reconnecting some of) the wiring for my front splits/speakers, headunit amp, rear speakers etc because i had some slight distortion (increases and decreases with rpm) which had been there since i bought the car (and with a previous headunit and speakers etc in the car). When i went for a drive....boom, no 1st, 3rd or 4th when in drive...

Ah k no worries. I personally dont think this can be diagnosed over the net you'd have to get a transmission mechanic to look at it. BUT from what you've written i think there may be a problem with the internal electrics of the box.

With the shift solenoid you replaced, B only operates when driving in D1 or D2 (or with manually shifting like you've said) whereas Shift solenoid A only operates in D1 and D4 which would stop it up changing from D3 to D4 .

What did the oil smell like when you changed the solenoid and was there any clutch material in the filter? Also did you only replaced the one solenoid?

Yeah i know, just trying to avoid the inevitable probably lol......The oil didn't smell all that bad, and it wasn't insanely dark, probably as i have only done 15k - 20k km since i had the gearbox replaced at Western Suburbs A/T here in bris (second had box). Didn't even change the filter (just dropped sump, valve body, replace solenoids, reinstalled and flushed the transmission), but there was very very little metal on the magnet in the sump. I replaced the whole solenoid assembly and didn't change anything, but it also didn't make anything worse too lol....

The wiring under the drivers side of the dash has been messy at times, wiring up the turbo timer etc, etc...and im assuming i did something when messing around with the wiring on that side of the car....

cheers for your help though sloth...should probably just resisde to taking it to a mechanic

    • The incentives are mostly the same, yes. Ethanol is cheap compared to the cost of doing 98-100 RON with crude oil alone. 87 to 93-94 AKI all with E10. In 2020 Canada mandated E10 as a part of their "renewable fuel standard" and is supposedly going to go to E15 in 2030. In California where there are only 8 refineries with two threatening to shut down next year it's been over 20 years now of E10 and 91 AKI maximum because there's just not enough refinery capacity or crude oil supply relative to the demand for premium unleaded fuel. And CARB's low carbon fuel standard means functionally none of the diesel available at the pump is made from crude oil anymore. It's almost all entirely 20% biodiesel blended with 80% renewable diesel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) now. The number of gasoline vehicles that support E15 or higher ethanol concentrations is surprisingly low, I can't imagine it being wise to play tricks like this without flex fuel sensors in most of the fleet.
    • It's almost certainly the same as the one next to it. • South Australia, which is hardly as far behind as the rest pf Oz makes out, and who is also not a paragon of progressiveness (read that as over-legislation) in the area of vehicle standards, has this to say on the subject: Adjustable coil-over suspension Aftermarket adjustable coil-over suspension components are suspension units that incorporate an external thread on the main body and corresponding threaded spring saddle that allows the vehicle's suspension height to be varied. If fitting aftermarket or coil-over suspension components you must submit an Application to modify a light motor vehicle form and a report from a light vehicle engineering signatory (LVES).
    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
