PM N1GTR and ask him about the the process to have it all engineered, he has a thing worked out with a couple of workshops for good price for engineering and emmisions, including a retune.

Worst case scenario was $1500 for an emmisions tune and engineered IIRC.

if i get through this, thats the next thing i'll be doing.

i just need to get all of my info right, like if i can use any kind of enclosure for my airbox, how to quieten down my exhaust without adding too much weight etc etc.

okay ive got the boost controller, intake and airbox sorted.

i just need a compliance cat and a quiet exhaust.

does anyone have the muffler off a standard exhaust and/or a compliance cat i can buy/burrow?

Hi Mate I have a standard 33 exhaust in Picton :P Let m know if you're interested - case of beer and its all yours. I think I have a compliane cat, the dump and cat back!

Sorry to hear mate, it sucks balls, i got one in the mail on the 1st of OCT was about to cry.

They will say everything has to be stock, and if they try and fail you for when everything isn't. Tell them to call the EPA and as this is not the case. The guy in Granville tried to fail my car the 1st time because of this, although thankfully i called the actual EPA and asked them everything before i went in, and i was able to pass.

Although i know for a fact with things that are modified or not standard which do improve performance of tamper with the emissions have to be first checked at botany or penrith (the test where they put your car on a dyno) and if it passes that, then you can keep them for the DECC inspection.

PS I hear the guy in Campbelltown is the best guy to take it to. Guy in Granville was prick. kept getting 89.9dba on the exhaust test, i swear he did it like 6 times to see if he could get it over, 3 times is all that is required.

*Note I haven't been pulled over in a while, i just got mine in the mail! Devo.

Hmmm i can tell you from my experience with the epa of decc what ever you want to call them it is not good. You can have all your aftermarket gear on the vehicle as long as it passes the emissions test but you have to photo graphed will all the part numbers clearly readable and send it into the epa or go to a decc inspection station to have it signed off. As far as a cat converter is concerned i have a copy of a emissions test and part number for a cat converter that was passed on a r33 and it costed me $175 from memory from a complance mob in sydney. I can email this emisson test and give you the part number for the cat convert that is required that should solve your cat converter issue pm me your email address and i can send it through

Please correct me if i am wrong but the standard Nissan cats don't comply hense why they are replaced during the compliance hense why i had to get a aftermarket one with a epa test report on my vehicle proving that the cat converter complys

Any exhaust shop will sell a cat to suit.

If you want a genuine (not required as everyone would just buy a generic one anyway) you could order one through Nissan.

If i already have a high flow cat installed, will installing another high flow cat help? OR will the emissions still be the same?

Just taking the idea that 2 is always better than 1 (especially with the human anatomy[although having 2 of a certain male organ would cause all sorts of trouble at the urinal!])... :)

Some cars, mainly factory have a "precat" before the cat especially to help with start up emissions.

i passed my noise test and everything else except the FMIC. im going to wait for the DECC to tell me if i have to take it to the IM240 test. id actually rather do that than stick the standard gear on.

and FYI steel wool in the cat does nothing. i made a flange shaped restrictor and drilled holes into it and wedged it into the flange on the rear muffler, THEN shoved steel wool into it.

    • LOL.... a good amount of people (not all) on that continent seem to know everything and like to measure things in bananas, football fields, statue of liberties instead of the metric system lol.
    • I assume the modules are similar enough, so if you've had no issues I don't see why I would. I have tried to find a wiring diagram for the FPCM / fuel pump circuit, but I can't find it anywhere. Otherwise, I would just do some wire cutting and joining at the FPCM and give the 12 V supplied to the FPCM directly to the pump instead. If you know anyone that could help with wiring diagrams, I'd be very happy
    • If it dies, then bypass. The task isn't difficult. I have one running on a standard R32 FPCM. That's after nearly 20 years of it running an 040, which pull substantially more current than the Walbro. They're not the same module, but I'd hope it indicates that the R33 one should be man enough for the job. I think people kill them when putting proper sized pumps on them, not these little toy pumps we're talking about here.
    • Silicone spray won't hurt anything. And if it does, that's an opportunity to put some solid steel spherical bushings in, so you can really learn what suspension noise sounds like, If you're going to try it, just spray one bush at a time, so you can work out which one is actually noisy. My best guess is that if the noise started only since putting the coilovers in, then it is just noise being transmitted up through the top mounts of the struts, and not necessarily "new" noise from bushes. But it's almost impossible to know.
    • Are you saying the 34 is SUV height, and not that we're talking about an SUV here? (because if we're talking about an SUV, you don't fix them. You just replace them when something breaks. Not worth establishing sufficient emotional connection with an SUV to warrant doing any work on one). I wouldn't jack my car up on a short little loop of 10mm steel rod poking out through a hole in the bumper bar, front or rear end. I realise that we're probably not talking about that type of loop at the front, being the one under/behind the bar on a Skyline.... but even for that one, trying to jack up on what amounts to a thin piece of steel, designed purely for withstanding a horizontal tension force, not a vertical compressive force (and so would be prone to buckling/crushing) and, my most particular bitch about it - located RIGHT AT THE EXTREME FRONT OF THE CAR, applying a load up through the radiator support panel, etc, with almost the entire mass of the car cantilevered between there and the rear wheels? Nope. Not doing that. Not on the regular. That structure out there in front of the front crossmember is not designed to carry load in the vertical direction. Not really designed to carry any load at all, really. The chassis rail that the tow point is connected to would be fine loaded in tension, as per towing. Not intended to carry the mass of the whole car, especially loaded all on one rail, with twisting and all sorts of shitty load distribution going on. No, I will happily drive up on some pieces of wood, thanks. That can only happen on driven wheels, and they are at the other end of the car, and this problem does not exist at that end of the car. And even then, I have been known to drive up on at least 1x piece of 2x8 each side at the rear, simply to reduce the amount of jack pumping necessary to get the car up high enough for the jack stands. What really really shits me about Skylines is the lack of decent places for chassis stands at either end of the car. You'd think they'd be designed into the crossmembers.
