Hey all, Have a bit of an issue with this friggen r31.

When the car is switched to the on position, the ECU LED lights up. Fuel pump primes.

When im cranking the engine, the LED on the ECU goes out, although the starter motor is still cranking, the plugs are sparking and the injectors are pulsing.

The car of course wont kick over, just pops everynow and then.

Does anyone have any ideas why this would be happening? Ive had it wired up by a mate and he is saying that everything should be fine?!?

Cheers in advance, Jon

What exactly did u get re-wired??

Sounds like a CAS issue to me..

Check firing order is correct, on injectors and plugs.. also that you are triggering at the right position, not 180 degrees out(if you've had the dizzy out and moved the engine).. have you checked that you are getting fuel out the injectors.. not something simple like a blocked fuel filter??

Edit: sorry i didn't see thr RB26 part..

so don't worry about the dizzy part.. lol..

Check that the coils are firing in the correct order

pull the cas out and turn it round while the key is set to on

you should be able to hear the injectors fire off 6 times per rotation

which end of the state are you at mate?

sounds like your timings wrong or you have no fuel pressure mate.

Do you have 12V at the injectors? Even if they are pulsing from the ECU they need a 12v feed to function, this caught me out both times I've wired an RB25DET into R31's. There is a big grey ugly plug which you won’t have anything to connect to that needs a loop back for power. Just stick a multimeter on your injectors with the ignition on and see if they have 12v, if not I can tell you what you need to wire up.

Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
