Hi guys, I recently bought Nick's (racsov) C210 project and I'm in need of:

1 x bonnet (small dents acceptable, minimal rust please)

1 x rear bumper (minimal dents / no rust. No plastic end caps or mounts needed).

I'm located in south east Queensland so anywhere close-ish would be ideal, otherwise I'm willing to pay for postage for the bumper. The bonnet would be strictly pick up at this stage. I'm not sure how much these parts go for so please pm me with a price / pics if you have any of these items.

Thanks guys. :D

You have almost no chance of finding the parts you want in the condition you described. Bonnets are invariably rusted under the front lip, and bumpers bend with the first light knock. I'd be snapping up any rubbish you can find and budgeting on rust repairs, repainting and rechroming to get them back up to scratch. Good luck.

I had a hunch finding parts in the conditions I described would be tough. Just thought I'd give it a shot anyway, you never know. Unfortunately I don't have room for a parts car, otherwise I'd have done this.

coupe72001, my bonnet is rusted (bad) in the exact spot you said. haha. I can repair this myself but if I can find a bonnet in better condition then the one I have now, it'd be much easier.

Thanks guys for the help.

The cheapest to recond: a bumper down here is $300.00. They;ve all picked up on this now... anywhere you go now

it costs big bickies to recondition anything.. it does pay to put aside a whole car..if you have the room..

Are they NOT available new out of Japan? Has anyone asked their local Nissan dealer about the availability of a new bonnet??

Sure it might be expensive, but what price do you put on CAN'T GET in AUSTRALIA???

Fibre glass ones are the go in Japan these days, painting them are a""NO NO"" and they wobble at speeds

a bit like Rolf Harris wobble board.

I wouldn;t want it on my car... id rather pay up..."" Kidney prices""

Cheers.

I sent you a pic yesterday. The rear bar wasn't all that good, but without success, tried to get it off in any case. Where it was bent, it was hard up against the towbar and bolts not accessable. Sorry!

Hi mate, I got the pic. Sorry about not replying, I was half way through something at work. Unfortunately I'm going to give it a pass, man. Thanks for your time though. :thanks: My current bumper is a bit better condition then the one in the pic, it's just a tad twisted and has a couple of small spots of rust. I guess I'll just spend a few extra doll hairs and get it straightened / rechromed.

I found some carbon fibre / fibreglass reproductions of C210 bonnets in Japan but they aren't cheap. oh well.

The FRP reproduction bonnet I found is 71,400 yen, no postage included. That's about $870 AUD + postage (which I guess would cost a fair bit being such a large item.) Then you've gotta add on commission for whoever you want to import it through.

PLUS the customs duty because the value has to be under AU$1000.00 to get thru duty free, which includes cost + freight so you wont get out of it for under about AU$1200.00 minimum.

A bonnet is to big to come EMS, so duty will be involved due to it being part of the container load.

Your going to save about 15kg, maybe 20 tops?

Be easier & cheaper to go on a diet if you're worried about the weight factor.

    • After @Kinkstaah debacle, I'd never want to try and get it right 😛
    • The hood lines up with the fenders. The front bar doesn't perfectly line up with the fenders where the wheel arch is. You have to 'squeeze' the front bar 'in' as it wants to naturally flare out and be longer on the sides. There's a few threads where people notice this when they only swap a GTR style bumper and front bar. Unless you have genuine OEM items - you may be better served getting conversion kits. There are GTT bumpers to fit GTR hoods. There are GTR hoods (non genuine) to fit the GTT bracketry. MAY
    • The real question is, on some of those wild roads they call highways, how many times did a farmer in an old ute from the early 2000s blaze past you over double lines?   Tassie is a wild and really cool place, and after doing a work related road trip there January of 24, I understand why Targa Tasmania is ran there, and is so tough to do well at! We had a brand new Camry Hybrid that handled quite nicely, and thankfully weren't in an old car, because cresting some of those hills in a 100kmh zone for it to suddenly be like "surprise f**kers, this is a recommended 30kmh hard right turn" wouldn't be pretty. We weren't racing the Camry around, but we weren't slouching in the bends either. But my lord those old farmers know their old clapped out utes, and those roads, as they were absolutely hammering it!   You're also super lucky to make it up to Mt Wellingtong this time of year. It's often road closed with snow/ice! Also, I hope you hit up Salamander Road in Hobart for some insanely good food (I highly recommend the dimly lit Irish pub for a Guiness Pie, or even the bangers and mash!!!)   How long did the Ferry take to get across? I want to do a road trip of Tas on my own time, but I get horrifically sea sick, and I don't want me on the Ferry, just the car 😛
    • So far so good, about 30km on it so far and nothing out of sorts yet thankfully
    • Look at @Kinkstaah's thread on the issue.
