Howdy fellow Perthonians.. Just a heads up, I'm obviously not going to post the name of this business in a public forum but just wanted to warn anybody needing guards rolled and tired fitted NOT to go where I did. So... Long story short I've come to the conclusion this place works on a 50% success rate with their work.. A week of emails in the lead up to dropping my car in which covered guard rolling and whether or not it would be likely to crack my paint as well as the exact tires, rim size etc etc and what I was after.. Get a call from the dude asking me if my car has been in a crash? (no) Has your car had repairs done to it after an accident? (no) Have you repaired any of the paint on it? (no).. By this point I'm panicking.. "Why mate what have you found is there something wrong" Tyre guy "Ah yeah.. well this NEVER happens with factory paint but on one side the paint has cracked all the way around the arch even though I heated it so I don't think it was factory paint" Me "It is DEFINITELY factory paint and I'm not too happy you've cracked my guards mate" Tyre guy "oh.. ummm well look how bout we just make it half price" So with no real option I get my car out of there ASAP. He has cracked the paint on BOTH sides quite badly on the lip, can't go back in time what's done is done.. Continue with the putting of the wheels onto the car when I got home last night and of the 4 F*CKING tires he had to fit to the 4 F*CKING rims he put two of them on the wrong way ie: The giant arrow which says 'rotation' next to it is facing the same way on all 4 rims, my friend says "oh maybe he didn't know" HE DEFINITELY knew.. I have the emails stipulating what I was after and if you fit tires for a living at a place that only does that sort of thing I would hope you can read.. End result I now can't fit the wheels on my car now coz I gotta take two back to get them put on the right way.. sigh So yes, this place works on the 50/50 principal - roll two guards and 1 will get messed up Fit 4 tires to 4 rims and two will get messed up. Definitely DO NOT recommend going to this place k thx. With the cracked guards I mean hey it can happen I'm not that nieve, was gonna give him the benefit of the doubt but fitting the tires on the wrong way.. I mean come on, was gonna take them back and get him to fix it for free but for the first experience with this place I'd prefer it to be the last. Just gonna pay to have it done somewhere else, concerned if I take the two back to get fixed only 1 will come out ok based on the 50/50 principal. /endrant

Geez...Sorry to hear about your incident.

I am thinking of rolling my guards one day too, and if you can pm me the place for me to avoid, that will be great. Thanks for letting us know, mate.

Thanks everybody, main purpose (other than venting) was to let everyone know in case they are looking to get rolling or tire fitting done. PM me and I'll send you the details, like I said - with the rolling it can happen but to do that and get tires on the wrong way is just poor.

Eps, I'm not far off now bro all painting is completed, centre caps are back on and just stuck on the glow in the dark work emotion decals.. Once I get the two tires swapped around the right way and paint over the red calipers back to black she should be ready for some pronographic photo shooting. (then it's just a matter of fixing up minor paint work LIKE the cracked/peeling guards =/)

Lol @ R34Mobster, all that toe adjustment and is still shakes! :P

Yea got new tires fitted and balanced it still shakes a bit thats because i dont have the rings around centre hub,(just orderd some)

my Volk face 2 starteed to strip my wheel studs & nuts lol its very common, i presume it puts a lot of pressure on nuts also read somewhere on net er34blogspot that the guy almost lost a wheel :O

so i will most likely change my rotors, brake pads and wheel studs & nuts safety first!

Yeh Lachlan, heavily regretting not coming to visit you mate =(

I just figured seems this guy was going to roll the guards and the name of the place includes 'Tires' you would suspect they might know a thing or two about fitting them on the right way so I thought hell I'll get it done at once. Now I gotta just find time to get the two down to another tire place to get put on the correct way. Probably just duck down to somewhere in Malaga coz its close. Hopefully I'll find a place that won't sook about stretch fitment, one place will apparently fit them on but refuses to inflate them which I can deal with.

I'm pretty good friends with the Tyres & More guys and Malaga. No fuss with mounting stretched tyres (was only a 265 on 10.5 though). Then take it to Beyond Custom in Morley to get your fenders fixed up.

mate could you pm me name as im getting my guards done soon and i also want to pump my guards if any one has suggestions

If your afraid of people cracking the paint when rolling guards, I can guarantee you your paint will crack with pumping the guards or "Flaring".

i got my guards rolled at west coast wheels. It was a 1hr and 10 mins drive. He cracked both of the rear guards. He offered me 50% of guard rolling and to spray my guards for free. Great customer support and genuine guy. I recommend him and would go back there.

Hi Terence,

I just want to know how did fixing your guards go afterwards. Were the guards and paint look ok after fixing?

Edited by Victor.T

the guy that fixed it did a really good job. He did a proper fender respray. This was on my 350z victor

Ok. So you were happy with it afterwards?

Cool. If I end up rolling my fenders and (God forbid) the paint crack, can I pm you to ask for the place information?

Thanks, Terence.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
