I've had part of my dash out for many months, and went to put it all back together today. I then discovered that my drivers side mirror will not fold in when I press the switch. The passenger side does however. But what's odd is if I manually move the mirror in, then press the switch, it will fold out!

I've had a look at the connector in the door and sprayed it with some contact cleaner, also the mirror switch in the dash.

Anyone have an idea what could be wrong? If it's the motor, wouldn't it just not work altogether, rather than opening but not closing?

I put my ear to the mirror and I can't hear it even trying to close. So I wonder if there's a loose wire around perhaps.

Anyway, hoping someone might have an idea what I can try next.

Hey krazy kong! funny that you should bring this up. I tried fixing my mirrors just yesterday as neither of them want to fold in or out. Though I think in my case the motors are stuffed. I think your problem might be that one of the little contacts has come loose since it's still folding out. I found this link a while ago which is a walk-through on fixing the folding mirrors. If you need any help just let us know

Totally agree. That link shows exactly how i fixed mine, as it did what yours is doing (folds one way but not the other)

The contacts were simply moving with the mirror shaft. A touch of supa glue later they're good as new.

Took about half an hour.

Last weekend I had a crack at fixing my mirror. It took me way longer than half an hour. Most of the time was actaully on trying not to tear, break or wreck anything. Once I had finally got to where the golden contact thing was, some glue was all it took to set back in place. Now the mirror is working nicely. Fingers crossed the other mirror doesn't do this too. This isn't something I really want to do again.

PhilKenSebben, any tips on fixing a problem where neither mirror folds in or out? Yet you can still adjust the mirrors themselves. It's for a friends car. That to me sounds like more than a contact coming off, rather wiring, fuse or something else.

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
