Hey guys. Got 2 R31's this is my track car build. Long story short

Built a R31 with a 25DET in it, people said i was nuts to trash it on the track cos its neat, so i got it engineered instead also has JIC coilovers all round

So then i wanted something different instead of a 25 or 26 so went LS1. Nothing to hard, got the car in October finished it in december lol. Did the engine mounts n gearbox xmember myself fitted all the gear to basically get it there, suspension n brakes. Wanted to get it done for a jaustech private day on december 23rd. unfortunately it didnt make it due to a faulkty relay but we didnt pick it up. Anthony from jaustech had it wired n running in a day lol. So yeh, this is my 2 month build

Sorry for the belated reply....Actually forgot i had this thread!! It was a little expensive, but the main cost was the motor and box....hard to find a manual!

Well here are a couple of vids from my first drift practice and drift school

f**k- another liner with Ls1. Good shit dudes, as far as i know the Ls1 is quite a light engine too, so it prob doesnt add too much weight. I would kill to drive a skyline with the grunt of a chev! Plus modifying those engines is quite cheap, so im sure its only a matter of time before we see some crazy ass 450rwkw chev powered skyline!

Cheers guys. HAHA 31 pimp, classic!! Yeh it is slightly lighter all up. But suprisingly its awesome to drive, very throttle controlable which i love, not a shitload of steering coz so far i have done alot with the right foot lol....just love the torque of it

The torque of a good v8 is unbeatable imo. Dont get me wrong, i love my rb's but i know that personally i can drive a v8 a bit more to its potential. I just find it easier to manage with the big fat even power curve!

Having said that, i cant drive for shit in comparison to some of the drifters/racers i have seen on vid in this forum.

Haha, yeh thats it. The 25 n ls1 are nearly the same power, but yeh, the V8 has my vote for good fun, just needs to rev harder. Makes power to 5700rpm, but revs to 6400 lol. You can hear the leveling of the power when im going around turn 1. No biggie though, ile learn how to drive first, that was my first practice ever......8 laps lol and drift school, about 3 hrs in the car all up. I just cant wait for the next day......:rofl2: 10th of June Ad's, tailem bend.

That looks like fun! Ive always been a import man but owned a few holdens vl bt1, supercharged stato ( that was fun ). But the other night i went in my mates vp ss which has been built with 350 hp and i can say its a different sort of power was a lil scary ( more scared of my mates driving ) he started doing a burnout 1st, 2nd & by the time we hit 3rd fryed a set of tyres lol.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
