I've done some searching but couldn't really find what I was looking for.

I know greddy made these strut bars, but are now discontinued. I also found cusco still make them.

but I was wondering if anyone has used anything other than these? something from a different model Nissan. I've been told that r32 mounts may fit but will need a custom bar. I'm keen to save some money and not pay $250+

any help would be appreciated.

well given that GT-R suspension goes into the rear then i'd assume the top hats are the same as GT-R's - which means the outer mounts off any GT-R will fit - then you just have to get the measurement in between the towers.

maybe try for a whiteline or something with a rose joint in it, which will allow you to fine tune the length?

When you say GTR, I assume you mean R33.

R33 GTR rear strut braces do not bolt to the top of of the towers like the C34 ones.

They bolt accross the back of the tower on studs

don't know? don't have a GT-R - but i do have R34 GT-R Coilovers so i just assumed the top hat pattern would be the same - and i'd say knowing nissan - that there would have to be other skylines using the same pattern with braces that bolt to the towers.

good to know though. your search continues! but seriously, yahoo japan - second hand - contact aaron at import monster and he'll get it done for you - save yourself the hassle.

actually, contact him regardless - i know he has a few stags that he is wreckign and might have a strut brace for you. if not, he will have a heap of braces that he could try in the back of his personal stagea.

i know the 33 rear strut braces don't mount to the suspension hats, they bolt down else where

keen to see the development of this, seeing as i was too poor to get it very far over summer

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
