Hey,

This thread is to reintroduce the Time Attack track days. Someone reminded me that I had not been to an SAU event for a while and that a lot of new guys may not know what we were about.

I have been running Track Days since about 2003, they started out being mostly Skylines but as we went more and more wanted to join us, so now its a great mix of all makes and models. Although we do run the Annual Nissan Day which is dominated by GTR and GTST's.

We adopted the Time Attack name about 5 years ago to honour the Time Attack in Japan and created our Aussie interpretation. We have always resisted making our event only about the "Big" cars and have space and a group for anyone who wants to run with us. From beginners to full blown racers. Of course we love the quick cars and these are always the ones you will see pics of on forums etc.

In the last couple of years we have added driver training to help beginners get into the sport. Doug (a very experienced trainer) devised a program to help beginners find their way around the track focusing on race line, braking points etc. We also run an advanced driver training session for those wanting to fine tune their driving.

Time Attack days are run soley by us. We hire the track and run the event. This is one of the big differences between us and others and I think thats what makes it the best event in QLD. The pits are run by fellow racers and everyone is there to make sure you have the best day possible. We are all about maximising the amount of track time you have to set the best lap time you can.

The next event is on Wednesday March 16. Spectators are free and your welcome to come out for a chat.

The running list for the event is on the front page of the website: www.timeattack.com.au check it out. You will see the groups organised by lap times. Group A to D.

If you have any questions or want to get involved please post them up or email me at: [email protected]

I hope to see you there.

Paul Ruzic

Hey Paul

Morgan Park Jun 2003 was the first one I attended (White MY02 Rex) when it pi$$ed down rain. Only recall 1 or 2 skylines on that day though  .

One day I'll get back to one of your track days, although these days I'm driving a dirty FWD shopping trolley

Wow you recall the Morgan Park days. That was ages ago. It did become Skyline orientated when we started going to QLD Raceway. We will have to do a reunion track day up at Morgan Park one of these days. Guido is the only guy left from the original group still running at the event !

Hey Noel, I missed the Lakeside event on Sunday as my car is being prepped for Wednesday. We did some test laps before the SAS and it is running nicely. I'm looking foward to be back in the game this year. Mick has put in the big hours on this build and the Engine is running very nicely now.

I have not been to Morgan Park for years. Used to run events there ages ago.

Next few events are coming up fast:

1. Lakeside June 21 - Space available

2. QR Test Day - July 7

3. Annual Nissan Event July 26 AM

4. AWD Shoot Out July 26 PM

The Nissan Event is the our annual get together.

The AWD Shoot Out is a new event that will be GTR vers EVO vers WRX (and any variants in those 3 makes). There are three main sponsors on board and I should have the class info etc sorted soon.

July 26 will be a big day at the track.

Quick reminder of the Annual Nissan Meeting on July 26 AM session. Still have a few spaces left for any last minute entries. This will be a lot of fun.

The PM session of July 26 is a new event the AWD Shoot Out. It is booked up now with GTR's, EVO's and WRX's. It set to be huge. I have even got a manga artist to design a limited run T Shirt for the event.

Make sure you head out for a look. Spectators are free.

    • Just don't use ChatGPT or any other artificial stupidity for the equivalent of googling. Their demonstrated inability to discriminate reality from hallucination should be enough to make them totally untrusted. LLMs don't know anything and cannot think to even the smallest extent. They are just predictors of the next word, and that should never be confused with capability.
    • I think, given the usage model described in the OP, I'd never ever experience the wonders of the 400kW upgrade. What I really need is boost from 2000rpm and probably no more than 260-270rwkW. But I suspect that the highflow is not actually the turbo for that purpose, so I may in fact need to get a G25 or 30 or something right sized and very spooly. We shall see after it is tuned. I've had to back the boost and boost ramp off to stop the thing from pinging since the highflow went on, so I've been almost living the NA life for 9 months now! Injectors are recently in hand. AFM is in hand. Dyno is fixed. Just need to clear a queue of f**king Supras out of the way (and probably fit my new gearbox). So....some time this year? Lol.
    • For what I gather is a Sunday/summer car....braided is fine. You're not going to be left without a vehicle and you have plenty of time for inspection/maintenance. Oof. I wouldn't use them that way. They can probably handle the temperature** but the internal corrugations means that their flow characteristics are a bit shit. Lots of extra friction and pressure loss. Makes them flow like the next pipe size down. ** They are stainless, and the stainless can usually be at least something like 304L, which is pretty good at higher temperatures (unlike 316L, which I would use for a wrt/corrosive environment, but not a particularly hot environment). But the welding needs to be top notch. And even then, because you usually need at least one cone-seat end on them (because you can twist the hose and do up both ends at the same time unless one of them is a union) they can be prone to coming loose with heat cycles.
    • I don't have the OEM oil feed lines though and the turbo-wraparound line is torn, only has water. My plan is to get replacements for these and just connect a braided line to there. And make sure it's leak free. Hoses like these are also sometimes used to connect external wastegates, so for an EGR I think you're good using them.
    • Alright I understand. The most likely case is probably gonna be that I just keep the OEM unit in the car as long as it works.
