hi guys!

usually thursdays at either carseldine, or a cruise down to see the westies.

best place to test that suspension is at happy laps, we need more people to race around lakeside :)

Ive got BC V1's and so far no issues, nice shocks

hey guys,

havn't been on here for a lil while just lurking around learning :)

question I have for you tho.

the Hicas light has come on in the missus R33 4 door when driving for the ol 10 mins around 80kmh etc

there is a little bit of play in the inner tie rods from the look of it.

so what are our options? do we need to replace the inner tie rods AND get a lock bar or is the play in the rack it self? or should we get the Hicas Eliminator kit that driftworks/cartel sells? which replaces EVERYTHING with new arms

the other issue it is having now is when you start it up especially when cold it sort of struggles to bring the idle up, I cleaned out the IAC not long ago and its still doing it so not sure what the go is there any ideas??

cheers

Personally i recommend the eliminator kit. I got one a few months back and love it. Specially if you ass end is getting a little happy. Makes the car a whole lot more predicatable. By the sounds of it you rods need replacing anyway so the cost of new rods + lock bar will be very similar. I got mine from cartel

cheers for the advice,

its only auto and the wife doesn't rape it too much, but her fuel economy is terrible :(

its stock with only the 7psi all the time solenoid grounded and a pod filter(DRIFT brand dry one not oiled like a K&N)

and we have changed everything except the AFM so far(changed spark plugs today so see if that makes a difference)

getting only 350km till it reads pretty close to E

My wife granny drives mine and can get almost 100km more out of a tank :( than i do.

but i'd say your economy has alot to do with the auto, and how much she loads it up in each gear (or how much the box forces her to do so...lol)

other than that its all about the drive, if i only drive to and from work in traffic and with the cold start i get 360-370km. as soon as i get any highway use its 400+

Also does anyone know if r33 GTR series 1 dash cluster will work in gtst series 2?

no idea sorry, i dont see why not tho. most of these clusters fit/look the same

car looks good man, would like to see those wheels in person, what offset are they?

man...you guys have no faith in your cars...lol. run it empty just to find out, i often leave it till well and truely empty and the fuel light is on before filling. i know exactly how empty i can run it (made it to a servo with 2 litres left once).

Holden doesnt count as a reference to anything :P

on another note, Carseldine and visit the westies this thursday??

Sorry about the double post (I only phone). About the intercooler? Yeah it's on there but only just. I want to try to get it to sit maybe slightly higher or if not at least straight and centred. It's pushed far over to the passengers side. :P looks pretty average. Not sure if I should paint it black or not.

Ahk, I might be able to help you but not sure on a day as of yet. You could bring it to a mate of mine while we respray my car if your keen for a car talk etc?

Leave it chrome! Bodo painted his blak and it suits the white car, but te chrome with your black would suit better. All to do with preferences.

Yeah I'll try that bodo, see how far I can get:p

that fine adjustment, and straightening of the cooler i found to be the biggest pain in the ass of all :(

Black looks good, nice and discrete :)

as for tonight, im keen for a cruise to see the westies. i say we meet at Carseldine pizza capers at 7:30pm and cruise from there.

mumslayer and myself will be at the morayfield BP's southbound on the highway at 7pm, if your coming from up this way

I'd love to catch up sometimes with you young'uns. I've got uni every Thursday night so have never made it.

Just put some RSRs on the R33 so heaps of grip if I happen to come across some corners. The car isn't being driven much atm as it need to visit the smash repairers for a minor front end bingle.

Getting it prepped for Lakeside happy laps, then some proper laps.

Got to put the braided lines on, rebuild the rear calipers (done the front), put new rear rotors on and new pads all round. Then WINNING.

Have no fear for i fixed it! Loose air inlet on the boost tee tighten and win

yeah was gonna say, prob just a small leak.

I got the tap set so i can build that gear knob for you man, drop it round to me some arvo and ill get it done in my spare time.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
