R33GTS25T turbo boost

Recommended Posts

Ok - a question from a red-faced newbie----as you can see I am not a mech-head!!!

My r33 is fairly stock - 'cept for aftermarket BOV and 3 and a half inch exhaust (18" rims and turbo timer as well)

Neyways - what is the 'safe' limit to take the stock turbo (and intercooler) to when planting the old foot a rooney???

Thanks as always gurus

:ufo: (Beam me up Scottie)

Black, i would only be taking it to around 12psi. It also depends on whether it's a series 1 or 2 R33.

Series 1's are able to handle boost up to 14psi but if you want it to last in everyday driving, 12 is good. If it's a series 2, 11 or 12 would be a max as they have a plastic compressor wheel. This helps them spool up quicker but doesn't like them overspinning.

Also, do a serch on stock turbos and you'll get some more information.
