Having a quick look here:

http://www.motorsm.com/complaints/latest.asp

The common problem seems that dealers don't understand their product.

Poor buggers with Navara's, Patrols etc who aren't too mechanically minded have to dig deep to pay Nissan's "Guess what's wrong game'.

Anything concerning electronics (and the modern car has lots of them) and dealers just start replacing bits.

I do my own servicing, always have, but when I get to the age where I have to pay someone to maintain my vehicle, it won't be to a dealership.

Hadn't heard too much about the Navara's (apart from their electronic 4WD problems) until I tripped over that complaints site.

But have seen a heap of ZD30 Patrols (the grenade) with very unhappy owners.

Nissan has left them high and dry.

Amazing, they get bubbles in the dash, same as the old R32's only a hell of a lot worse.

If you're persistant enough and still have some warranty, Nissan will cough up with a new dash.

It seemed to be only early ZD30 patrols with the grenade engines. The current ones haven't been having that problem. The patrol dash bubble problem is being fixed under warranty on a customer complaint basis only i believe.

Nope the CRD's also grenade, just taking a bit longer to show up.

Looks like the end is nigh for this horrible engine. (rumours of a petrol V8 ???)

Actually the Patrol must surely be ready for the chop, it's so out of touch with that ancient front end. (google Patrol death wobbles)

Navara has become very popular.

You're right about the dash bubbles, it's not a recall, the owners have to chase Nissan via their dealer to get any satisfaction.

    • Yeah I made that post way too early, sorry I must have assumed it was bad because it's a 20+ year old thrashed shitbox lol. It was just a loose exhaust bolt.
    • Like others have said, drop the power to give your drivetrain a % of reliability until you can up the drivetrain reliability  It isn't rocket science, build power to the weakest link with a % of safety Whilst upping the the reliability of the drive train is costly, there's no point in having the engine make big power if it keeps eating the drivetrain....ask me how I know, I had the tow truck on speed dial for a few years, and I spent huge amounts of money fixing issues and breakages that really would have been cheaper in the long run if I did it right the first time Me, I like a nice sized fudge factor, that keeps me off the tow truck
