hi, currently looking at getting a r34 (time for a toy again!)

couple im looking at have carbon fibre bonnets on them.

curious to know, are they legal here in vic? and how do you stand with them with insurance etc

99% of the aftermarket cf bonnets are illegal. There is one Australian company that has met the ADR requirements... Can't remember the name unfortunatly...sorry!!!

Insurance will not cover them. You may also be liable if the bonnet causes personal injury. Eg hit a pedestrian

However, as they do look fantastic <<<<<see avatar...just make sure you have the original in case you get caught.

I'd be interested to see how Nathan gets away with his Nurspec. I don't think he would skimp on insurance with that thing and it obviously comes stock with the carbon bonnet.

VicRoads wouldn't know thier arse from their heads.

You can call up 5mins apart, and get a totally different story.

I've done it before. Get them to put it in writing from a VicRoads engineer - THEN its valid.

yeah, ill be getting it in writing, was from the head honcho here at local vicroads.

no doubt if purchase this car im looking @ with the CF bonnet ill be removing it anyways, not a fan of the look, just dont want to get pinged in the mean time
