Removing Side Trim Around Centre Console ?

FOR R34......

I understand how to take apart the Centre console and Airvents, but im more intrested in removing the side pillars ( the circled things in my pic) out as well to prepare for painting.....i notice a lot people fix up their centre console and gear surround but leave their side pillars scratched and looking worn out like mine, is it to hard to remove or time consuming ?. What im really asking is someone to give me a clue to how to remove this and whether anybody has tried to paint these and what color or product they have used to matich OEM spec.

Anyway thanks for any help i get !!!
