Mr Plod found out you didn't have one?!OOOh,this is gonna hurt!i can't talk-my V Spec has a straight through JTCC-spec 90mm Nismo system,no cat',no muffler-just a tip to quieten things somewhat! It's louder at idle than the 3200rpm 92dB set limit...Fark!The reason I'm trying to find out about these substrate cat's is so I can have a road legal ''zorst" built up,but try not to drop too many kilowatts...gotta keep the peace sometimes!LTS J.

Guest INASNT
Hi all!I'm hearing good stuff about "metal substrate" catalytic converters, but I want more info...Anyone got any ideas?Apparently, they flow up to 30% more than a hi-flow cat',and they're smaller.Sounds good to me!LTS Jayce.

Dont believe the hype with all the high flow cat rubbish. After 3 years any cat is gonna cause a restriction on the car. I have a magnaflow cat on mine and it worked ok for the first 2 years with stock car but now it is totally screwed with new turbo setup and smells like rotten eggs everytime u give it the car a bit of stick.

Bikes dont use cat, either do racing cars, rayy cars, drag car etc.

Dont know how they can justify big fine for cars not having one when any car over 5 years will have a farked cat anyway.

Why not fit a removable silencer to your tip? and have a Cat shroud put where the cat goes.

Thats all the cops notice down here.

hell cars get roadworthy down here without cats

Why don't you just get a "super high flow" cat... i know some guys running this and it is basically a cat with a straight pipe through it... so you can't be dinked for it unless they take it off in the middle of the road. You prolly won't pass emissions, but like INASNT said, a cat stuffs up after a while anyway so what's the difference.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
