I continue to have a good run with my one, but that's probably as it rarely gets driven any more, and hardly at all to likely defect locations

Mind you, every time I have been spotted by a cop I have been pulled over.

your one I can get sorted legally I bet. needs a height adjustment though.

as for defects - give someone time or a reason and they will find a way to nail you.

just over 12 months ago my mate was pulled up whilst at a dyno comp by on the coast by brissy police, in his neat series 8 rx7 RZ edition, now these special edition ones come with 17" BBS alloys and fixed back red recaro carbon fibre buckets standard.

he had on a FRP bonnet which is fair enough to defect for. But the cop proceeded to fine him for the seats, although these seats are standard factory items, and the car is a 2 seater edition anyway. I was trying to explain this to the cop, but he was arrogant, and threatened to arrest me if i didnt go away. so i did, fuming at his attitude towards the situation, as he didnt care he was writing tickets to meet his quota anyway, being basically factory standard with teins and full exhaust. this STTF guy was a joke.

But what gets me is they can write a tickets willy nilly and you dont get a chance to prove them wrong. and they dont get any recourse for your wasted time and effort going thru the bullcrap to prove them wrong, so they dont care. its a joke.

There should be some sort of procedure whereby if officers are continually having their tickets or charges overturned it should give some sort of avenue of recourse either internally from the police or for the public to exploit.

make it reasonable.

This way I can guarantee you that a police officer will never again issue a bullshit ticket.

I got defected a while ago and that was full of BS. The police don't know what they are looking for and just ticket you for anything that they feel like. I was defected for having a turbo installed on my GTST? When I explained to them that it comes standard with a turbo on it he said no you installed one. We will never win your only chance is to fight it in court and win and then hopefully if there is enough charges overturned in court then maybe they'll look at the way the system works.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

yeah right

Oh and when I had to clear my defect I didn't need a RWC. I just got put over the pits with a quick inspection then when it passed they cleared my defect off the vehicle using their computer system. It took approx 20 mins and I was in and out.

pretty sure the old de-register / re-register trick no longer works as the defect goes against the vehicle's VIN number and not the rego like it use to

I de-registered mine years ago and about a year and a half later I had a visit from the local police looking for the car. They wanted to know where it was and if the defects had been cleared etc.

    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
    • I started removing the tank a while back with the intent to give it a proper clean. Got to a bolt that I couldn't undo completely due to a diff being in the way, so just said f**k it and siphoned the gluggy old fuel out and called it a day. Looking it the tank it looks less corroded than the one in the pics for that billet hanger from Frenchy's anyway. Isn't it the fuel filters job to worry about this stuff? I scraped off most the crusty shit of the hanger but will give it another go before reinstall coz maybe the fuel and return pipes are also full of gunk
    • Pretty sure it is a common fault. I believe this is the only part you need, but don't quote me as I don't have a V36.  I also believe it is a bit of a pain to change and the device needs to be encoded to the car once it is replaced, so may need someone with the right tools.
