Ok so i can get the hose kits through my local dealer that is willing to source them from japan, rough estimate of $500-$600. if anyone is interested in getting a full engine/heater/radiator hose kit. let me know any ill get back to u with an exact price.

Yeah dont get china spec no-name silicon hoses - they're not reliable... IIRC BeerBaron mentioned Samco do quality silicon, or just get the Nissan OEM rubber ones.

JC that seems quite expensive (but since Jap made should be good quality). IIRC OEM from Nissan cost me somewhere around the $300 mark.

i'll second that, genuine nissan, brand new, no problems.

I have been hearing too many problems arising with silicone hoses of late. Also if they are under the plenum and you have a problem, they are not exactly a nice job to change, do it onece and properly.

my 2 c

whats wrong with the chinese silicon ones? theres some on ebay for like $170 from asi_performance (or similar). They're actually in Laverton not far from my work.. Anyway interested to know what issues u guys have had/heard of.. considering im like halfway through replacing all my old ones with the generic silicon hose kit.. gotta be better than the old rubbish thats in there atm surely..

I had ebay (non-branded) silicon radiator hoses. Always leaked, and one failed after about a year. Went back to OEM and they're perfect.

Actually I have their number... 0393695712

Melbourne branch of these ppl - ASI Performance - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nissan-R32-GTS-RB20-RB25-silicone-radiator-hose-BLACK-/290578650137?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43a7d65419

From memory it was something like 4 Weddel Ct Laverton, just an office/warehouse in an industrial area really.

I actually went in there and picked up my hose kit a cpl months ago and he had heaps (at the time). I actually spoke to him on Friday about a kit for an RB20DE for a friend and he said he only had top/bottom hoses in stock. The kit (which excludes those) is $170 pickup but 1-2 week wait.

I was told it would be $600 to replace my hoses from Nissan.. pfft, plus something like $80-100 for either the top/bottom hose I forget which.. either way I'll just swap them again.. if I still have the car at that point..

I do see your point about the hoses underneath tho. My car is in pieces tonight.. more hoses splitting.. And I saw one short hose that runs from a pipe out of the block (joins to bottom hose) and into like.. well the top of the oil filter..ish (haha very technical).. anyway NFI how you're supposed to get that off lol.. was like wtf

I should take a photo, just makes no sense to me..

@Kaz180

Yer mate i know ur point about them being heaps cheaper and all, obviously they dont have the whole engine hose kits on ebay as the one u posted is just the radiator hoses. As it stands the chinese silicone hoses have too many bad reports for me to go that way. So if anyone is interested i will see if i can get a better price for a group buy, i will most likely be ordering in mid to late august.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
