Well the story goes like this. My old ceffy had a bit off a fight with a rockwall so i bought another ceffy rolling shell which this time has a sunroof but i can't get it to work. The other drama is that the roof lining sits a little lower so i cant fit my 6 point roll cage in it.

I figured that i dont really care if i have a sunroof or not, i personally dont see the point. So i think i might try removing the whole sunroof mechanism, sealing the glass sunroof shut, corering it with a carbon fibre sticker, and swapping my roof linings over from the old shell. Just as an easier cheaper option

Fingers crossed all goes to plan.

Good God don't do that.

Generally, non-sunroof cages CAN fit but they're a very very tight fit.

If it's track only, take the roof lining out, and that gives you a bit more room, that's about 1/3 of the height difference, the other 2/3 being the sunroof assembly itself.

Sunroof is all sorts of fun, and it makes you an instant sickcvnt...keep it :P

I dont know how someone has fitted a non sunroof cage into a sunroof car, the height difference is signifcant. Keep your cage, remove your sunroof and replace it with a sheet of perspex. I used tinted perspex so its not so bright on a sunny day. It obviously wont open but good luck finding a sunroof model cage.

I was going to say before, look at getting it chopped down.Surely the cost of cutting the flanges and bringing the whole cage down 1-2 inches isn't THAT much ?

Sure as hell beats ripping out a perfectly good sunroof and making a dodgey roof. That right there is $500-$1000 value on your Ceffy come the day you want to sell it.

    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
