I dont know if this has been brought to anyone's attention in the past as im not a massive follower....

I've recently place an add on here to sell my skyline...it's been on there for a few weeks and yesterday i received a SMS from what looks like a free SMS online saying 'Paul Huges is interested in my car...please Email [email protected]. Which i thought was strange....i sent an email to the aformentioned email asking what he would like to know etc...instantly i receive a massive reply from 'Paul' saying he is a sailor off shore and is trying to buy a car for his wife who is in darwin who just had two newly born twins....im thinking..hmm...What the f**k is someone buying a 2 door sports car for his missus with two newly born kids for?....anyway he goes on about i will transfer money etc etc...paypal this and paypal that....So i go along with it....i ask specific questions like..is there anything specific you'd like to know about the car etc...and also...i mentioned the car hasn't got enough room in the rear for two adults..let alone to baby capsules. I get a reply saying thankyou for your advice...i want your paypal email so i can transfer money etc as i really need a car for my wife...my shipping company will come and pick the car up etc etc...once payment is recieved.

I kept playing the game saying that i had a gentleman interested tomorrow to come and have a look etc...just to see if i get some generic reply back.

Seems all too sus to me.....

anyone had any simular experiences?

Ryan

I haven't, but keep us informed as to how the scammer progresses, maybe we can all learn something from your story and someone will avoid being ripped off as a result of one of these scammers. Cheers.

yeah had a heap of them when looking at cars, either its stored in a warehouse, my parents have it and cant give more details. allways want payment via paypal and car will be delivered to my door. simple solution never buy a car with out looking (or if selling get full details of person) and if it seems to good it normally is.

On the reply email from this guy, check the properties... and get the originating I.P address.

Google 'ip address locator' and punch in the I.P. address.

$10 says is comes up in Nigeria. All 12 of the ones sent to me were pretty much in the same suburb or district.

This such a joke, they send you fake paypal emails saying the funds have been transfered, but as soon as you check your real paypal theres nothing there...DUH.

So what they do is they say can you pay this account strange foreign bank account for shipping as it fell through on there end, usually a couple hundred dollars and thats how they get you, you dont loose your car just a bit of cash.

Id love to catch up with these f**kers

Yea I had a similar one where a courier was to pick my car up. They pick the car up and withdraw the payment before it clears. I would love to know what actually happens to these vehicles if a so called courier were to pick vehicle up.

I've had that exact one. Played along with it, up until I got an official letter from a lawyer saying I had received the money and need to pay something to a credit union. Lol.

Also another good one is a oil rig worker who's coming to Melbourne for a holiday and wants to buy a car while his here lol.

Used to get 1 a week. Just don't deleted the msgs off ur phone... Doesn't take long before they start doubling up from the same guy who's got a new name and email adress for you to msg.

Seriously you'd have to be pretty stupid to send them money in anyway.

Also their punctuallity get worse and worse and there ability to string a sentence together becomes .. Just lol

    • There's not a great deal to report here .... except ...... FOR .... LSD!!!  I bought a Quaife LSD from the UK and shipped it here .... Wish I'd just bought locally cause the shipping and duty was $700! But there were so many diffs used in the E90s I just wanted to be absolutely certain I was getting the right one so I spoke with a supplier in the UK who builds race cars and they have heaps of experience with the E90s.  I pulled the diff out which was seriously awesome - I've never done anything like that before, I must have watched 1000 videos on YT about it as well as consulting the Bentley manual. It was super easy in the end. The diff was delivered to the awesome folks at Hornsby Diffs and will be back in a few weeks. I also replaced the diff bushings with some Nolathane ones.  Really looking forward to getting it back and getting back to the track or even the skidpan.
    • yeah... the 13kg/mm springs weren't always in there, I had 10kg/mm but doing a few SMSP commanded heavier front springs. It's so good now going into T1 and T2, just need more seat time and real tyres.
    • Yes, well. Mine are less than half that. ARBs are not set to "dumb" either.
    • I would hope. But, we all know even the best companies have an issue sporadically.
    • LOL well, lucky mine doesn't have some R shit on it. Around town, it handles so much better than the R33, R33 in the wet is pretty dangerous to the untrained hoon, especially with 13kg/mm front springs.
