Hey everyone,

As per the title, I need a lot of help with a v35. The car will not start. Again, the quest for more power has blown up in my face lol. Before I present the story I probably need someone who can do a full rewire for a v35, does anybody have a contact in that regard? For those who might be able to help, the long story follows. If people can either let me know here, or give me a buzz/sms on 0404 723 623, that would be great.

Thanks,

Ali

The car is a 2005 CPV35 Coupe HKS Supercharged Semi Auto. The car originally came with an IMPUL ECU. We added a piggy back HKS FCON Pro SZ so we could tune the car as the impul one could not be tuned. The FCON came off my brothers V35 Supercharged, that was a 6 speed- advised by local workshop it will work fine as its just a PIGGY BACK. Once we installed the FCON, the car started. We started it and drove it 3 times. While it was driving it was very shakey and unresponsive as it was out of tune. On third occasion we turned the car off, it would not start again- and the NATS light - as soon as you insert the key remains SOLID RED. When you insert the key, it still remains red. The car will crank but not start no matter what. What we have tried:

1) Locksmith to reprogram the key - Consult can not connect with the ECU- 'COMMUNICATION ERROR'

2) Another locksmith, same error

3) taking the FCON oeff , just the impul. same Error and problem.

4) took the car to Nissan who tried to diagnose it, can not connect with ecu

5) all terminals and relays and fuses have been checked and work fine.

6) ECU reset attempted - battery left off over night- did not work

7) changed to a new battery, did not work.

Send 'acsplit' a PM mate.

Wiring guru he is (done plenty of cars/conversions including my own & does work for a few workshops in Melb).

Whether he is available or not is another question as it's something he does on the side.

i always thought the NATS system was seperate to the main ECU

ie what happens if you flatten your battery at your shops

surely there is a way to drive the car again after a flat battery

i would try another stock ECU

its not different to flattening the battery and the ECU's loosing any non-battery backed ram data

i dont think the NATS ecu would have a serial # check to the stock ecu to say hey, your a stock ecu, but im expecting ECU serial ID 104030433, and your seiral id is 23903209932 go away

it should work

how much is a new stock ecu ?

if its trying to crank and it wont it sounds like you tripped out the immobiliser or its stuck "ON"

thus she will try and wont fire

engine starting is simple equastion of air fuel spark

if the ecu thinks its tripped the security or immobolised itself the ecu wont fire fuel, thus no start engine

that woudl also explain the red key icon

ie ive lcoekd myself out and immobolised

Thanks for all the advice.

Ideally I'd like the car to be tuned for more power and better power delivery.

So I was thinking, if I get an after-market stand-alone ECU, that 'should' bypass the immoboliser right?

I will try a stock ECU to see if it works, then if it does, I'll buy an ECU that can be tuned.

Also, will a stock Stagea ECU work in the v35?

Thanks again,

Ali.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
