i know angry.gif as much as my n/a skyline too

not entirely too sure whats causing it to burn through so much fuel, especially since my tyre pressures are at the right levels now (they were running at 18psi when i bought it lol - i thought that explained the bad fuel consumption).

1k? not sure.. When I bought mine, I paid $1700 with 2 months rego left and full tank of fuel. (1996 model)

Since then I've spent 204 on rego, transfer fee of $62 and rest on fuel...

153km when I bought, 157k (could be 158, forget..) now totally hassle free :D

Filled up today, 6.2L/100km and btw, the 6.3 tank involved using lots of AC :P - Mostly mixed driving.. distance/town doesn't really change consumption lol.

Only downside to mine, is slightly rusty (surface only), window sil and boot and no power steering. (810kg car... don't really need it lol)

The RS's are psycho. If I could convince the missus that it's a practical kid a carrier (like that'd happen) I'd have one in a second.

Drove one yesterday at the proving ground & gotta agree, fantastic car to drive. Bloody torque steer was huge! Like triple the OP's budget on road though...

XR5 or GTI would be my choice, really dont rate the mazda interiors.

sell it and get something else.

will be doing that just as soon as i've finished fixing the rest of the mechanical faults (the reason why i got it - to learn something!)

James you should try drive my car! $1000 cheaper with 1000 more things for you to gripe about

Just food for thought, the MPS is built on a "BK Platform", the focus a "C1 Platform"..... Same platform, also included is the Volvo "P1 Platform", the floorpan is different, but the front- and rear subframes, suspension, steering, braking, safety, and electrical components are shared.

Apprently Ford Focus, Mazda 3, Volvo S40 and V50 share 60% similar parts and the platform is expanding to suit more volvos fords and mazdas

3Mps is the most fun had for under 40k new, or 20k used, I thought about buying one, still am, just dont think my licence needs me to get one... too much fun

End story

cheers sheepus thats interesting..I have noticed there is a lot of reasonably priced mods for the mazda as a well..all mazdas for that matter

I soon realised that an MPS is not the only otption, then there is the sport and luxury MPS and they are pirced accordinly..im not sure yet if the differences are just cosmetic or not..

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
