Hey guys.

So i recently purchased my R34 GT-T all is going well so far just putting the new sound system in.

Ive had a look on the forums for an answer with no luck, im hoping someone here knows the deal :D

Anyway, we started her up today and took her for a spin around the block.

When i take off, it seems that on the shadow boost gauge (Previous owner installed it) is very reactive to the throttle, and when i take my foot off the accelerator the boost gauge drops below zero and the red light will come on and an annoying beep noise, the gauge will slowly come back up to the Zero mark and the light and beep stop.

I must also say in the stock boost gauge seems to be operating normally.

I'm not too sure what the issue could be, weather its just the gauge has reset whilst putting the new sound system in (Battery did run flat when testing the system, however i cant find how to set up the boost gauge online, any advice for setting the warning on a shadow pro gauge would also be amazing) or could it be something a little bit more sinister like a leak somewhere down the line.

Any help would be great, or any suggestion on where i could take the car to be looked at in sydney would be amazing.

Cheers guys :D

To set the warning, you need to hold the left (I think, havent set mine for awhile lol) button on the controller for a few seconds. It will beep and the needle will move to the set warning position. Then use the buttons to increase or decrease the set warning position. I'm out at the moment but will be home in about an hour, if you still haven't got it sorted then I'll look up the instructions in the manual and walk you through it.

Mind you, what you've described doesn't really sound like an issue with the peak boost warning. Any chance you could get a video of what's happening??

Thanks mate,

Im just about to head out (Cant take the skyline, P plate laws :S)

But when im home from work tomorrow ill video it and post it here.

Cheers.

Edit. Any idea of what it could be?

Alright, so i finally got around to getting footage of the issue,

Excuse the shitty quality the video was taken from my phone.

Yeah something's configured wrong, how is it neutral pressure when idling (should be in vacuum) and how can it possibly make 1bar in neutral not under load? lol

Antilag? Lol :P

I haven't watched the video yet (will when I get home), but it sounds like something has gone wrong with the gauge. I take it if it was installed when you bought the car it is no longer under warranty??

*EDIT* Another idea, check to make sure all the hoses going to the gauge sensor and any t-pieces you used are still good. If any hoses are crimped or a t-piece has melted and disformed then it could be creating an anomoly in the pressure that the gauge is reading, ie the pressure in a crimped hose will be higher than that in a free flowing hose - measure of restriction and all that.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
