Sory for posting such newbie question, but guess I'll got to start from base with this car.

I just got my 04 V35 coupe 2 days ago, and was stuck on how to use the triptonic features.

It has (+) and (-) and I am not sure how to use it.

Any advise anyone? thanks

Yup, its my bad, bought wrong sticker.. so just put on (+), and is it just 1 time or I had to go up everytime I want to change to 2nd to 3rd gear like a manual car? Thanks

Each time u push the shifter up or down it goes up or down 1 gear. so if u want to to from 1st to 2nd push + once to go back push - once.

Car looks really nice, imo 19inch inital D white rims on the red :D and lose the stickers Vs are not ment to be super cars like the GTRs more of a show pony/cruser unless ur like cobey and build it to destroy all.

I was down at the TAB this afternoon putting some money on West Coast Vs Carlton and saw that Skyichgo is running at $1.01 to wrap his nice new TRD Skyline around a tree before he is old enough to drink!

Seriously though, does anyone else think that it is crazy for a young kid who cant figure out that + goes up a gear and - goes down a gear can afford a $25,000 car??? What happened to the good ole' days where you scraped together $2000 (if you were lucky!) and bought a piece of crap that had to be bump started every cold morning???

Its nothing personal against Skyichgo, but it scares me to think that there are people driving around in these relatively high powered cars at that age. Then again I'm probably just jealous because I can imagine the amount of "you know what" he will be getting in that car when I generally had the ladies pushing the car down the street so that I could take them home lol.

I just re-read my last post and changed my mind, it is actually something personal against you Skyichgo, take the damn TRD stickers off your car before someone punches you in the face on the street. You do realize that what you have done to that car is the exact reason that every bogan in an SS Ute gives Japanese cars crap?? Your not in Tokyo Drift or Initial D and Brembo is not paying you money to advertise their products so why pretend they are???

^^ I am sticking to my original thought that it must be school holidays, and someone is bored and making up stories about owning a V35.

Well.. too bad.. it's not school holiday nowadays.. and no one make no stories here.. :)

Bought wrong sticker?

Do you know anything about cars? Honestly, you bought an imported car and don't know TRD is for Toyota, and how to change gears in tiptronic mode (which is available in a Commo or Falcon now). Riiiiiight. +1 for troll.

FYI, school holidays begin next week.

Thx mate, just realized that it does shows on the dash screen

With the rims, I was thinking paint the wheels black.. as bigger rims f**k the engine ... thats my own old school opinion anyway, will consider it later.. and also with the stickers, I realized that I bought wrong one, no big deal.. I probably tear it down when I am bored..said in next 2-3 weeks lol,

Honestly , I bought other parts and ask the seller just to give me free door sticker, and apparently I didn't know anything about TRD shit.. so that's -1 for me.. and tiptronic... is also -1 for me, as I said I am newbie.. but that's the reason I am joining this forums to get well-educated by you (all the pros here).

I prefer being stupid about things I didn't know rather being a smartass (but dumb inside) :)

Skyichigo, I have a set of 6 inch wheel barrow wheels that I was actually going to save for when I put 3 superchargers on my engine. I was told by a mate who sat in a car one time that Isami Amemiya uses them on all of his performance engines in Japan and swears that they help protect the engine when you're running 75psi. I will send you some pictures of his Touge Monster V8 RX7, its a tough looking machine but not as tough as his TRD R39 GTR V-Spec 3.

I have changed my mind and will leave the car stock for now but I can slap a few Ferrari Decals on them and do you a deal if you like? They cost me $6000 but I'll let you have them for $5000.

Also, with the stickers that you noticed where the wrong ones but still put on the car anyway, be careful when you take them off because you can completely mess up the handling of the car.

Simple internet/forum search will cover all your questions anyway, so to come on here and ask these questions when they are already covered is kind of redundant anyway.

As for the 'bigger rims f**k the engine' comment, care to elaborate to one of the 'pros' how that works? That one really has me intrigued, for someone who doesn't know how to change a gear in a tiptronic, or what TRD means, you seem to be very knowledgeable on the mechanical side of things.

I know, and that's why I put " it's my own opinion for my own car". I don't said you can't put big one on your loved one , mate. We don't share same chick with same boobies size, right? I might like small one, and you might like big one? :)

You still haven't explained your logic behind that comment. Your opinion is that 'bigger rims f**k the engine', care to elaborate on HOW that occurs?

There is a difference between opinion and fact.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
