Hi,

Tried this in the maintenance forum but got no responses, so here go. I have a few questions regarding headlights on the R32, specifically the GT-R:

* Are the headlights the same across the R32 range?

* I understand there are two different types of R32 headlights: one fitted to earlier cars, one to later cars. Is this correct?

* Does anyone have measurements for the lights?

* Can anyone provide close up pictures of the two types?

* Better yet, does anyone have pictures of the headlights with the glass front removed?

Thanks,

Lucien.

i think only the 89 model had different lights cos the front indicaters were clear not orange. so that is maybe why they changed the actually head light cos of the different design or something.. thats about all i got.

GTR headlights changed slightly in wattage in 1991, other than that it should be the same for the GTR. THe GTSt's changed all over the place, but not the GTR.

Wattage doesn't really bother me, I am more interested in changes to the reflectors, projectors, etc, etc (ie. the construction of the headlight) :D

you're thinking N1 headlights anfd GTR headlights... I guess they're both GTR's but N1 headlights are a lot more expensive and rarer. Two Square = N1, Square + Round = GTR.

There's a lot of Square + Rounded Square goin around which are 1989 pov pack headlights off Type G's. A lot of people think these are N1 but they're not.

the only difference between the GTR ones and the rest of em is the clip for the nosepiece that goes inbetween the bonnet and the bumper. So if you tried to fit GTS/t ones you could on a GTR (the brackets to mount it are all the same) but you won't be able to put your nose thingy on.

Not really 2 square ones, but it has a higher intensity inner bulb and was only available on race equipped GTR's (which had the N1 spec RB26DETT). Also back light takes up the entire headlight, and the inner light sits on top of it.

R32 headlights with no ring on the "projector"

Very similar to the N1, cept that it used low power bulbs and the back light takes up half the headlight only.

And these are a set of aftermarket headlights that I'm getting

god knows, they seem to pop up on a couple of drift spec r32's, still trying to find out who manufactures them... they're basically the same globes but mounted on the outside withouta glass cover... the one above the last one is the same headlight close up...

that explains why my headlights are slightly different... left has the ring & right is like the one with 208 next to it.

despite the slight differences in design they both have the same intesity & beam spread on my car.

Do you have pictures of the clip in question... ?

    • Maybe also really stiffly sprung track cars. Get the inside wheel up in a corner and all the fun stops. Also me sometimes (rarely) when I have to stand on the brake to convince the diff to drive the wheel that is still on the ground when I'm trying to diagonally get over severe driveway entrance, etc.
    • I feel like I'm missing something. You had an authorised installer come out and install a new alarm. Post install the car doesn't start, and you aren't getting the installer back to fix what they did wrong?
    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
