Did you upgrade the Transmission software by yourself or the dealer? Did you use the V32 SSS software to update the transmission?

Cheers

james1, no problem. For $15-$16K it is a bargain and a hell of a lot of car:)

West, I believe the software upgrade was done by NorthernBM and am not sure about the software used, but can probably get the info if you want it.

Did the exact same thing, flew down to Melbourne, picked up a car and drove it back to Sydney. Helps to know someone who can do blue slips, but it was definitely worth it either way

Exact same car I bought as well! No regrets.

So your loving the E38 7 series Matt? They are a great machine and as enjoyable as GTR, just in a different way:)

Haha yeah very different machine... but yeah it's like the same budget was spent on engineering both cars, but in completely different ways :) The thing is sooo relaxing to drive to work in and really does have plenty of go regardless of its heft. The VANOS on the later '99+ models definitely helps. Due to the great soundproofing (incl double glazed as per your 740) you appreciate the stereo that much better too.

At first the blokes at work couldn't believe I could afford it, then they couldn't believe how little I paid for it (and I paid more than you're selling yours for Jamie), it really does look like a much more expensive car than what it is; which is not why I bought it, I've just always loved the E38 shape, but it has dated very well, much better than I think the E65/66 has and will in future.

what needs to be done anyway,

just a rta inspection here to ensure the car is road worthy?

yeh flying down wont be an issue.

I believe that is all that is needed for rgei in another state. I am open to selling the car as is or with a Roadworthy for Vic buyers. Same goes for interstate buyers.

Thanks Matt. Yeh I wanted a black as well but there are hardly any of these for sale, or should I say worth buying for sale. Glad I ended up with the Oxford Green though as its set off real nice with the dark tint and wheels. I got 9.4L/100Km to Sydney which I thought was awesome and around city I get about 13-14.5 last time I checked it.

This car has had the software updated to the transmission and in sports mode, really goes hard. In sport mode as well, has some good rumble with the new quad exhausts:)

GL with the search!

killer cars i have the 750il and its fantastic, its just a daily but super plush... pretty decent power too around 205rwkw.

GL with the sale.

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
