Hand (Foot) Brake Adjustment

The hand operated brake release does not work. To release the brake I have to pull on the release handle then get my foot under the pedal and pull it back. Although it could be a good steal stopper it is a PITA. Any clues on how to fix??

Happened to my S2 and eventually it stopped working altogether, i.e. press footbrake down, release lever doesn't do anything, car stuck. Ended up figuring how to 'release' footbrake if/when some tit in the car wash decided to use it even though i'd stuck a warning sticker not to use it. Requires torch light, and a screwdriver. No idea how to fix it proper though, sorry.

Well it is completely US now. Had to disconnect release mechanism [to drive . Any ideas???
