is your cat converter still intact?

and how big is the oval muffler? my commodore only has 1 oval muffler in it (2.5" system) and it isn't very loud at all. it's a decent sized muffler though. also, what sort of resonator does it use? is it the oval type? it may be that they fitted it the wrong way. when i got one put on the pulsar it had a right and wrong way. fitted the wrong way it wouldn't do much to quieten things down.

im not entirely too sure about the details of the system, i got it second hand off martin on these forums

all ive done is change the end muffler to a mild steel oval one

cat was still in good condition last time the car was checked .. but perhaps this will be a good excuse to go get a hi flow one on thumbsup.gif

the drone/loudness is only till about 2500 rpm, and the car is much louder some days, near quiet and nice others - perfect on those few days.

perhaps ill get a hi flow on and get kermit to check out the rest of the system at the same time though

*edit* ive been seriously considering swapping back to the stocker, but it does feel a fair bit more responsive this way and i quite like it

Slight side topic. Does the cleanliness or age of an exhaust determine its sound output also? I imagine it wouldnt be a huge difference but I was wondering if it would change over time? as the small holes in the muffler may get blocked up etc.

PS my problem got solved just got another muffler works a treat all nice and legal

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
