hi,

i still have a stock r31 head deck, i think its teh philips one, anyways, cus of money shortages my mate gave me his holden vs commodore stock head deck to put in, cus my skyline one is shot... when installing it the connector plugs are different types and i cant connect it, is there anywhere where i might be able to get an adaptor for this plug so they connect?

its a big white thing with multiple colour cables coming out of it, but u probally knew that anyway!

you have to cut the wires off the skyline plug and connect them to the holden plug. You will have to figure out which wire goes where because it is not exactly colour for colour. You need to figure out which wire is positve, which one is ignition and which one is ground, and basically which wires connect to the speakers.

Also get some fuses aswell because you will probably blow some up in the process.

On my friends R31, I ended up unpluging the unit and starting from fresh with all the wires. All I needed was 1 pos wire 1 earth 1 wire from fuse box that works from ignition and 4 wires for the speakers. You find that it will end up being faster and you don't have to worry about connecting a wire wrong and blowing the unit or fuse.

That's my 2 cents. :P

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
