I saw this on carsales last week.

Looks too good to be true i think. Its got lots of goodies.

I suspect kms arent original based on price, or maybe has rust underneath or accident repairs... i would try and request some pics of the underside before commiting to travelling to see it...

One of the first things i would do when inspecting a 34R would be to look underneath.

would be interested in knowing when it was imported also?...

If you keep an eye on the auctions in Japan it will give you a good idea of what recent arrival cars are actually worth also.

say a dealer advertises a new arrival 34R for 45K says its in good condition and has 50ksih kms...

you will know something is up as grade 4-5 34Rs in Japan go for a pretty good price, and could cost 50k landed without there profit etc..

and with the one above, i would suspect you could have dramas transfering rego.. when i was searching i came very close to attempting buying interstate, but decided against it to avoid hassels... unless its dead stock, i would avoid it personally.

mmm looks like David Hales's old 34. there is an old bloke from the eastern shore that has one also (in that color with same wheels), however i dont think thats the one, I could be wrong. there's not many here so I'd say its gotta be one of the 2.

David hales would have paid top dollar for it, he owns about 50% of the clubs/bars in hobart(well close lol) and is a poser so highly doubtful it has seen a hard life whilst he has had it, same deal for the old bloke, have seen it twice in about 5 years pottering up the coast.

I'm sure someone would check it out for you matey, maybe even myself next week (if its any help). I'm an Ex panelbeater and have seen a datsun or 2

reply back.. was complied in asu in 2004 and was traded in on a brand new BMW

Thats a good thing, the less time in japan away from salted roads the better i have found. Got any pics of the underneath?

Could be a goer then... ask for some pics of the drivers seat bolsters, that can usually be handy in showing if the kms are genuine...

Yep Ex-David Hales car. Awesome buying, genuine nice car with lots of fruit on it.

My company, Benson Motorsports supplied various parts for the car during his ownership.

He bought it off Autostyle and hardly used it in the last four or five years... had my lease company insisted I not got anything older than five years it would be in my driveway now instead of the STi!

One of the the guys that does the race prep on the Nismo 400R that runs in Targa events is a mate of Daivds and looked after it for him.

Andrew Kuc of Pro Automotive has done work on the car and if you were keen to buy it get him to have a look over it, he's only few blocks from the car yard.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
