i have been running wasted spark on a set of splitfires for about 5 years now. The coils will have NO issues in wasted.

turn logging on, and log it when it misses, you might be getting some bogus rpm signals, this is because the 360 optical sensor is really hard for the ecu to cope with especially in a modified engine, i found that cars with modded heads, springs and cams have more issues with this then stock head setups.

check the rpm signal, see if its stable, hold the rpm at one speed and then see if it goes up and goes down in the log, make a log when the car misses, is the rpm jumping over the rev limiter? or is it moving about strangly?

You may need to contact autronic, buy a trigger disk for nissan optical sensors and install it, I have done this to 3 cars in the last 2 months to fix the same issues, the issue is not haltech specific its the fault of the 360 slot hall setup.

the trigger disc should cost about $100 or so, i had to put one in my RB30DET after i changed the cams, before the cams i had no issues...

yeah did all the logging, not a single problem spotted, the miss counter shows a nice stable rpm.

anyway the problem was found in the end. would you believe it was something as simple as sparkplugs. I had 6 brand new NGK plugs in there and 3 of them proved to be faulty in such a way they wouldnt spark correctly, irrespective of what coils used.

not really the word i'd use for it... more like waste of f**king time... so much dyno time wasted chasing issues... guess it comes down to never assume that just because a spark plug is new that it will spark correctly

Can't say that I've ever come across an issue with spark plugs being bad out of the box. The majority of case I've seen is usually due to improper installation - not saying that's the issue here I've just never seen it myself and when you've changed thousands of plugs on high performance engines I would think that's a pretty good sample.

i havent come across it either. im a mechanic and have changed my fair share of plugs. these were brand new and out of the box failed to work. im not sure how but i chucked some 2nd handies in that had been sitting in a pile of crap. blew em off with an air gun and boom, car runs on 6 all the way thro the rpm range.

    • I've replaced the front brakes of my NA to 324 brembos and 350z calipers: i'm going for 225/40-18 up front and 245/35-18 in the back. I have Rays 7.5*19 ET35(225/35) in the front with 5mm spacers otherwise the calipers "lock up/ won't rotate". When i use the calculator i come up with 8*18 ET30 for 225/40...... but not sure i get problems with the calipers. Anyone riding around with 18 inch. that can confirm "that it'll fit"? In the back it's 7.5*9 ET30 (245/30) with the 5mm spacers, but there is no problem with the standard small brakes, so i want to take 8.5*18 ET25 (245/35).
    • Lol.. but then.. always come back to a JDM..
    • Glad to hear. If possible, get your tuner to check air's to make sure everything is still where it should be.
    • The problem with FB/Insta/Reddit etc comments relating to cars is simple. You get to ask a question once, and get one round of replies. For things that can actually be answered in a few lines of text, once, it's fine. After 6 hours, your original question is lost to the void. There are no follow ups, additional questions, anything. No project car is ever such a simple list of questions to ask. You need discussion.
    • Welcome.  Here's what I have noticed about forum vs FB..... FB; seems to be wallet racing, and the same few questions asked over and over. There *may* be some groups that are closer knit, but most have changed for the worse. SAU; unfortunately, no longer in its glory days. But....genuine people with similar interests. Not all about how much you spent and saying you dont have enough power. Sooooooo much knowledge available. Have personally seen people post up about literally topics I made myself, asking on FB like no one has done it before. Most has been done, and most of that is here.   If you ever feel like just general chatting theres the wasteland.  Other interests are also generally covered in other areas of the forum. Hope you enjoy hanging around. We would love to have you.   P.s. nice 32 😀
