ok well the main prob you guys have here with being "hasseled" is the fact that most general duty cops don't give a shit unless you're being a dick like my mates a basic cop said he checks out the cars all the time. I'ts the old gumpy under sexed traffic cops that you have to look out for like one of my x's dad's real grumpy. But yeah the bike guys and persuit guys are the shit ones oh another note neons under the car are legal just something like they can't shine out the front or something? But yeah there's a heap of car things that aren't illegal with transport but those dick cops don't like em so decide to be shits about it.

Ok I've vented lmao all's good now :D

Sorry guys I got the flue I just read it and realised the confusion lol  I was just saying the only cops that really give you trouble are the traffic cops which r normally on bikes or the cars with speed guns. And my mate who's a cop said that most the things they get you for aren't really illegal they're just being pricks.

Sorry about the confusion I gotta go dope up now and refill the tissue box :)

Yeah...nice one geezer :)

The mods you can do, without any problems are, Tyres, Window tinting (not on front window) window wiper blades.

Everything else would/could be defect unless you have a enginer cert on it, in QLD the enginer cert is in the engine bay and lists all the mods that have been enginer cert'd so if you have that on every mod the police can't defect you as it's been deemed safe.

Pods are illegal because they can make too much noise thus taking your car over the safe DSB limit on engines.

If you don't have the enginer cert then it's basicly up to the cop as to what happens there after, you might not get anything you could end up with a $150 fine plus 3 lost points as that what the defect fine and points are, amount of defects don't seem to matter.

Also need to provide an engineer cert to the police to say everything is safe or fixed up.

You can be defected for not having enough tire tread..... as a guy at my work got done for also get done for 3-4 other things as well.

As the saying goes though, Act like a dickhead, get treated like a dickhead.

enginer cert.. anyone have one? I'm curious to see what it looks like.. :P

Also to the saying of "Act like a dickhead, get treated like a dickhead" partly correct.. but.. anyway....

I live in the sticks and the jacks haven't had the oportunity to pull me over but I know that they start lurkin' around the streets after quick, loud (as skylines often are) lap in the small hours in a small town. It is just a matter of time before they hassle me,should see the looks I get from the jacks (snapped necks).

I'm seriosuly looking to buy a r33gtst, but now feel I may be making the wrong decision...

Reading through the posts on here, it seems you guys have a bad time with the cops issuing defects and just hassling you in general.

All the r33's I have looked at are modded in some way (pod, bov, lowered) and I cant seem to find any concrete information as to what mods are legal (everyone has their own opinions).

I really want a r33, but I could do without the cop attention.  How bad is it in QLD.  I really don't want this to deter me from buying one!

Cheers, P

I have a 32 and I find if you have some kids toys and things lying around if you get pulled over and they see these things they tend to treat you as normal. Especially if you are worried about being searched. Worked for me in the city one night. My boyfriend has a 33 with neon lights under it. I got them installed for him and rang transport dept and found out that green is legal. Police dont like it but cant do anything about it. Anyone reading this who wants neons ring transport they will fax or post you the guidelines. (Know they can't be red, blue, yellow or white.)

Also one point (if you like to go a bit over the limit-km I mean,) other people flash their lights at you. 9/10 radrs I am warned about compared to 1/20 before skyline days, this is a huge benefit. The other day I think someone actually pulled in front of me and made me slow down before I passed a radar. I think they just assume you are speeding. I got my open and lost 6 points in first week, bought my line, no fines for 6 months. So far this is a record for me. And I go faster in this car than have ever been before.

Also 4 doors without big front spoiler have the power but look like all other cars (but really what would be the point of that.)

yar, like everyone else has said, ive never had any problems with the cops (that i didnt deserve)

i did get pulled up for bagging it up directly in front of a unmarked D car, but even then, i just said my foot "slipped" off the clutch and it was an accident, they didnt like it, but no ticket, the coppas just read me the riot act

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
