My R33 1Jz Build Up

Recommended Posts

I am looking to convert my newly bought R33 into a 1JZ r33 i have always been into toyotas but recently changed to Nissan, i have been slowly collecting parts for the conversion as i want to rebuild engine before putting it in so far i have Brian Crower 272 cams, BC valve springs and titanium retainers, HKS Cam gears and timing belt, Spool Con Rods and CP pistons, BC 1.6mm oversized intake valves and new crank shaft, oil pump and water pump and all arp head studs and main bolt kit.

i spent the last weekend spraying my rims up black and fitting new coilovers

and as pictured u can see why i no longer want to drive the soarer and want to swap the engines i love the 1jz and always have plus the r33 would be like hevean to that motor not having to pull all the weight of a soarer

I have purchased a s14 crossmember and 1jz engine mounts for that xmember so hopefully it goes in easy and with out to much drama.

I still need a front sump for conversion and to work out how to wire it up i dont know to much about wireing myself

I like seeing project like this using the good looking body and putting a bullet proof motor in. I have a 2JZ in my 32 now that it finished I could not be happier with it, but i will give the tip it wasn’t all easy there’s a lot involved everything was custom and i mean everything nothing just fitted. I am running a mircotech computer just running the engine and using the factor computer to run all the other stuff it was quite easy to wire up I stripped all the factor wiring out that was not needed and just kept the wiring that was still needed i.e. factory temp gauge, lights, horn, air-con, air-con thermo. I used factor cross member with factor Nissan mount and just made custom mounts off the block to the factor Nissan rubber mounts. My motor was from an aristo so it had the front sump that fitted perfect over the cross member. if you get stuck on anything I'm to answer any question you might have good luck with the build mate

This a thread about my car a few pics of the build up on another forum

Yeah i understand i will take a fair bit of work and lots of custom work will have to be done. But in the end it will all be worth it your r32 looks tidy as very nice job

    • Hi I wanted to see if anyone knows the name of the OEM R32 rims because I can't find it anywhere
    • Gates is saying the same thing. They think I have the right bag with the wrong hose in it... I bought it off amazon, I'm thinking someone pulled a good old swapparoo and returned normal hose. Well looks like she's coming back out... Not very lucky with this hose lol.
    • Chatting one someone recently at racing them at QR. They say you can't take turn 2 in one flat stick in 4th. They don't have the torque to pull them selves straight, so make sure you're ringing it's neck out in 3rd instead
    • Many years ago when I bought my FG XR6T, it came with bald tyres on the back (think pretty much smooth for most of the tread) and brand new Kinforest cheap shit tyres on the front. In the rain, I had more grip in the bald ass tyres on the back, than the brand new Kinforest. To the point you couldn't drive off at a set of lights and turn the corner. Car would only go straight. Very quickly all four tyres were replaced.   A few years back on a VF SV6 I had, it came with brand new chineesium tyres. In the wet at 90kmh, old 1990s tray back tradie utes could corner faster than me. There was one corner on a freeway, in a 90 zone, it's not even marked to reduce speed for those curve, it's not a hard corner, I could put the LandCruiser on mud tyres through with ease (it would easily do the corner in the wet I reckon at 120kmh), the VF however couldn't get through it at 80, as it would want to slide out.   Cheap tyres aren't worth the risk. I like decent brakes, and decent grip.
    • It shouldn't swell like that, (just looked it up) it should say SAE J30R10
