I've only had my car for 3 weeks....

I was out for a drive today in Perth with my boyfriend, driving down Gt Eastern Highway

when my V35 was pelted with rocks! I pulled over and my boyfriend chased the little sh*ts who threw the rocks.

I called the cops, and they came and arrested the stupid kids.

But unfortunetly they are too young to be charged, and well, nothing will happen to them except for a slap on the wrist.

And I'm basically responsible for paying for the damage.... my poor baby:(

I'm going to get quotes on Monday for the damage, hopefully it is not too much!

In the mean time, if someone could give me the paint code for brilliant siver, I would be most gracious.

Little bastards, if someone did that to me i would absolutely lose it. Lucky you put this topic up i'm after the paint code too to fix up some scuffs.

Hopefully repairing the damage doesn't cost you too much, if only that kid was of a decent age for your boyfriend to smash him..

Agree with the sentiments above. I've had a full can of coke thrown at an old car while doing 70kms. wasn't fun hitting that.

For future refernence - your paint code can be found on your built plate. Open bonnet, and on the drivers side strut tower there is a little silver plate telling you the VIN engine, gearbox etc, and paint code. :)

those kids are gonna be winners when they grow up, they're good nominees for the darwin award at least

PN-Mad beat me to it, paint codes are on your car's build plate, most are in the engine bay on some cars on the driver side door well

you might need to get some dent removal too

P.S is that hello kitty I see in the reflection on your first pic?

Thank you very much for the helpful information PN:)

Yeah, I was pretty upset and beyond pissed. I made the kids cry, when I kind of blasted them verbally. They were crying again when the cops cuffed them.

Yo-yo, yes that's Hello Kitty, it's on my key chain that was in my hand when I took the pics lol.

** btw, 2 silver v35 coupes passed me while I was pulled over**

Great to see you caught them.

I'd hit the parents up for the cash, sorry to be blunt - but its their mistake for giving birth to a sack of sh*t.

The good news - the little girl does look quite scrawny in the picture, so hopefully she couldnt throw it 'that' hard. Have another look at the marks, if they are not through the paint - you may be able to get them out with a bit of Meguiars 'Ultimate Compound'. You can get it from supercheap auto or repco. If this works, and you see the area is still dented - look for paintless dent removal. Taking this path (if possible) would be much cheaper than complete respray, and may give the same (if not better) results.

If you do need a touch up reference, my 350z and V35 were both also 'KY0 - Brilliant Silver'. So for example - if you go in to autobarn looking for touch up paint and they dont know what a V35 is, 350z is the same.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the repair info! I'll see how much the quotes are Monday. I'f they are too high I'll look into paintless dent removal. Unfortunately the paint has been chipped down to the metal:(

Both kids were boys, they are from joondalup and their dads in jail. The cops said they didn't see much hope with me trying to get $$ out of the family:/

It really sucks, I've only driven the car 8 times since I bought it 3 weeks ago:(

Gotta love the world that we live in when that is the response that you get from ' the law '. Yet if you get caught doing a few kph over the limit, they will chase you to the ends of the earth to make sure that you pay up for your heinous crime.

Even with the dad in jail, I bet that the family still have $1000 worth of assets that could be handed over. I would be getting a copy of the police report and then going into one of the offices of my insurance company or arranging a meeting with a rep and trying to make them cover it all. You can identify the other party so I'm not sure how they can argue their way out of it. Has anyone ever read on their policy that the 'other party' or 'persons responsible' must be over 18?

I have a weird sense of humor and was just taking the piss. However, I'm still going to run with the 'its a girl' scenario. I'm also going to take a wild guess that both of her dads are probably in jail.

^ Personally, I'd persue the legal path, if Alkatraz knows of a door - I'd say its worth a shot. Depends how much time you have to ensure they do receive the punishment they deserve. I still struggle to understand what would be going through the minds of these children while the actions stated above took place. Any rational human being wouldnt find that funny. I wouldnt - not when I was 10 years old, not now. They need to be corrected - no respect for the property or health / safety of others.

Anybody can say they are stupid because they are young, but its not. Each person has a set of core values and common sense which obviously these individuals are lacking. To be direct - this is how it starts and the next thing you know, they get a little bit older and can actually pick up rocks that can cause significant damage. Then they will be dropping them off bridges in to car windscreens - etc and to make it all worse, they'll probably think its okay as nobody has ever given them a substantial slap on the wrist for their previous actions.

Sorry to hear about this! I was one of the V35s that drove past. I was actually wondering why you guys pulled over in that spot.

yeah thats shit. I'd definately let insurance handle this. You have a police report, so its all above board and they will get the family to pay You'd think!!

Might not go down leach hwy for a while :/

Thankyou everyone for the legal advise and moral support (and listening to my venting).

I'm new to this forum, your comments, advise and genuineness is very much appreciated!

I''m still really sad and pissed off about the whole thing, I just went out again and looked at the damage done to my car:(

I'm going to talk to Lumleys tomorrow and seek there advise, and get quotes to get it fixed. I'm also going to call the cop who gave me the report to see what can be done about pressing charges:/ I highly doubt going about the situation through the legal system will get me anywhere.

As much as I want these kids and their family punished for their behaviour, I may save myself the headache and say f*ck it, and just pay for it myself to get it fixed.

I just want my car fixed:(

Don't settle for less Holly, do whatever you can it's your property that these little pricks have damaged.

But if you don't want to feel bad about taking away their parents' Centrelink cheque then go easy on them. Don't forget tomorrow is a Public Holiday too.

Good luck :)

Not on this side of Australia... our public holiday was last week!

Def get your insurance on to it, you shouldn't have to pay any excess due to having the police report and the little shits being caught!

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
