On a different topic I dropped the truck off to get some work done under warranty. Mainly a new headgasket as the bolts have streched and it leaking coolant

I ask the service person if they got new headstuds for the job and they say no we will use the old ones they should be alright

I thought all headbolts were a single use thing these days so will see what happens

I would be replacing the head studs if it was my car but depending on what the workshop manual says on those things will determine what is replaced under warranty as its all by the book!

But seriously IF the leak is due to bolts stretching why the f**k would you re-use them? lol

Yeah it's due to stretch

On the exhaust side and along the length of the block from the headgasket so yeah streched loose bolts

Re-torque and good to go You can tell i was a dealership mechanic for a few years

Oh and the job on the truck turned to shit as well

I wanted to get it done in a weeks time when I'm on holidays so if anything went wrong it wasn't a problem but for whatever reason the boss wanted it done today and pick it up tomorrow

I get a phone call that it won't be ready till Friday and the boss hits the roof, en result was it got put back together before the head came off and will be done when I'm on holiday

On a unrelated note I went to the BP near work this arvo for fuel and the young bloke behind the counter says

"I was wondering who owns that car. I've seen it in the car park and a mate of mine owns 33"

Was a bit surprised as I don't think the car gets noticed that much
