Happy birthday Ant

Hey Matt what time you be home Friday arvo, need to come collect the detailing gear as race car needs a good polish

Hope the pads can handle alloy panels

cheers mate, not sure if i remebered to tell you about my party? if not let me know if your free sat arvo and want a couple of beers in hamilton...

ok got the job, now time to think of a daily,

postie bike, 125 cbr, 250 cbr or ninja 250?

prices are 1400, 2k, 3.5k, 3.5k

distance is 4kms.

nice work mate,

i reckon go something abit faster, atleast then while you sell you car and wait for the right one to pop up, you can come on cruises not in the tiida haha..

also is a 125cbr what bellamy had?... if so do not get one, do you remember how slow it was?

Ah that's a bit our of budget haha.

Think I'm going the ninja, not as quick as the Cbr but there only 2 years old for the same price as a 16 yeare old :)

ahhhh ok then.

you'll get bored with the power real quick but.

Ah that's a bit our of budget haha.

I just flicked my sis an email to get her opinion as she will know of plenty for sale as she has worked with bikes for nearly 10yrs :P

Ill let you know what she says buddy!

if you can ride a bicycle you can pass the course.

I can still f**k that up too

Anyway, here is the first part of the reply from Bec -

Ok... tell him to bypass the 125 option... they are terrible. lol

Easiest options are the Ninja 250 (which should be going cheap now as theyve released a superceded 300 version now)

or a new CBR250R ... (not the old CBR250RR)!

Failing those options I would also look at the VTR250 (naked) or if he wanted to go for a bigger learner legal bike go for a Suzuki 650 (SV or GSXF) .. again (NOT a GS500...they're sheeeet)

Lemme see if I can find any good buys..

You would want to spend at leask 3k to get a decent bike that hasn't been neglected... tell him to look for a bike with low kms i.e- up to 25000kms max!!

Here is part 2 to the email -

I'm assuming he saw the price of the CBR125's... if he's strapped for cash then they are a viable option but just remind him he will get sick of it quicker then a bigger bike and probably have to buy another bike even sooner than he would if he bought a 250 or bigger..

As you can see most decent learner bikes are around 3k neg. (but it's better than spending another $1-2k on repairs & tyres etc which usually happens with the smaller engines as they work harder than the big bikes & learners have no idea how to maintain shit!)

Tell him gumtree is probably the best (cheap) option for finding bikes

I just had a look at bikes sales & found these ones... but there will be heaps more out there..

All of these bikes share the same engine >> (ZZR250/ GPX250 & NINJA250)<<.. this one is a baby at 16000kms...

This one has more kms but Hondas are reliable & this one has been looked after...

The list goes on..

Haha why don't you have a bike now Matt??

Thanks dude I'll read them after work! For a newish ninja I'd probably need 3.5k I'm thinking.

I think I'll get my license and start looking real soon.

It'll push the garage and gtr back but atheist I'll have a sick reliable daily :)

Your sister is good with bikes :)

So what's the differenc e between those Kawasakis and the a ninja? I've always loved the green ninjas and would probably spend the extra money if a ninja had better handling and what not to go with the looks. I mean, you hear off everyone you don't lose on bikes

    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
